You are in your house. It is large, and much nicer than the others that surround it. It is by no means a mansion, but it is still a comfortable home. It is 1670, and France is at war with Spain over a recent gold rush that has made Spain into an economic superpower. France intends to force Spain to give them all their gold, and the rights to mine in the gold mines themselves.

Your parents have died of disease, and they have left their ship to you. It is a merchant ship, and can store more loot than most ships. It is very lightly armed, and could only take on a virtually unarmed opponent.
