I had this problem, so I experimented. There are a fair few drinks out there that taste like piss. And a fair few more that I'm still not certain are safe for human consumption. However, I can heartily recommend the following to you, my friend:

  • Kirov Vodka (Yes, KIROV REPORTING!)
  • Bells whiskey (I've only had it when it's 18+ years old, I don't know what new stuff is like)
  • Drambuie, this shit is delicious - I especially recommend it for winter
  • Most kinds of cider, but if you put pears in it I will hunt you down
  • Mead. Any mead. There is no bad mead.

Hope this helps :)

Slivovica or Borovicka. It's the drink of the champions :).

Anyways, my only problem with mead is that it tastes absolutely miserable.

You have, apparently, never been so fortunate to taste my mothers brewings.

There is always drinks that don't contain alcohol as well. Such as Juice, Milk, or water.

I suggest cider. (at the very least I love cider. Better than beer, imo. The natural one, that is, not the carbonated gas one.)

You mean Sparkling Cider?

One issue with Cider, at least with me, is that it can be a heavy drink.

It is certainly heavier then beer.

MIND you I mean "heavy" as in "thick" not alcohol content (which Cider can vary)

However at the same time I've seen people absolutely inlove with cider (or good cider)... So try Cider.

I REALLY shouldn't be on this topic... I appologise.

Yesterday I went out strolling about in the festivities of the city (cider production is important and traditional around) and bought a bottle of ice-cold cider. Very enjoyable :-)

I suggest a nice dark Rum. Perfect drink after a day of plundering on the high seas.

Unfortunately not! I'll keep giving it a go in the future, and maybe I'll eventually find one I like, but so far they have all been terrible.

Red wine being girly is not so much the issue. It's Tory, which can get you stabbed in certain English social circles.

For real? I can't freaking imagine what is the mind of someone who make the jump: Wine-Tory-Stab.  :o

Still, good wine is delicious. You could go all for the froo-froo instead of tory, and drink sprinkler wines in a very affected manner... :P

Capirinha is generally made with green lemon. Well, lemons, sugar and cachaça. It's a decent choice if people wouldn't complain about it. Another choice could be another hard drink, like vodka (which is Russian level manly. :P), or just get cachaça if they have it where you drink.

Disclaimer: I love sprinkler wine too. It's delicious. All good wine are.

I have discovered that draft beer is actually drinkable (but still not very good), canned beer is still swill though.

Generalizations are swill.

I've recently developed a little bit of love for Bulmer's Cider. It's essentially the only thing that comes out of the tap in pubs that I can actually drink xD

If you wanna destroy your liver, kidney and heart at the same time Red Bull and Vodka is quite yummy ^^ I have a friend who swears Absinthe mixes surprisingly well with lemonade or coke if you like liquorish (their words). And depending on the brand of absinthe you get, you probably don't need to add much of it xD Shots of the stuff are brutal though, and very good at sneaking up on you...you'll do one, feel fine and confident so do another one or two. Then you try to stand up and start wondering why the person next to you is so tall and why there is a ceiling fan on the wall...
