I've deleted the minecraft folder in roaming in an attempt to reinstall it from the yogbox, but now it won't work at all. As the title suggests, it gets stuck at downloading packages. I've tried deleting the bin folder and minecraft server again and again, but it won't work. It only seems to download the version file in the bin folder. Any solutions? I posted this on the minecraft forums, but I think it'll just get washed away in the sea of leaked 1.8 issues. (It already has been, actually.)

Oh I just posted this problem in the other Minecraft thread. I'm trying to use the classic server to get a feel for the game before I invest actual money into it, but I'm getting this error and it won't load. I've never played the game before so I have no files from it on my computer.

Classic is really old, I don't think it's supported anymore. Minecraft is great though, you can try the slightly newer Survival Test, but its like trying DF by embarking with naked cheesemakers with no supplies in a savage region. You spawn-->monsters eat you. Even in daytime I think.

Er, that was for sappho.

Also, you most likely have to delete the mods wholesale.

-I don't know the details of mod installation though, I only use vanilla/ what servers have.

I thought I already said that I had deleted the entire .minecraft server, which in turn would delete all the mods within it.

Running it as an admin user? Does it actually start downloading then stops after some files or it freezes immediately?

Actually, now I tried using the yogbox uninstaller, it freezes on startup.

Have you updated your java and made sure you have the 64-bit version if applicable?

Just updated java, and it still won't work.

Not sure if I this would help you but I had this problem this mornig .  I know u said u were having problems pre-1.8 leak, but I had MC running, and I walked off to try in on my GFs computer and she had the same problem.  Came back after a few minutes, and the game loaded.

Try letting it run for like 5 minutes?

Well, the problem is that now the game freezes on startup.
