I had a very nice surprise for my fortress - I found some glowing pits before I was ready for it. Soon there were tentacle demons all over the fortress killing every living thing and breaking furniture. But after this massacre there were still alive dwarves - all were babies. They crawled between corpses and blood pools, but demons did not pay any attention to them. Suddenly one of them became a child and nearest tentacle demon quickly came to end his life. So, I suppose, tentacle demons do not bother to kill babies   It's cruel

It may have something to do with their code of honor to not rape the mindless. ;P

Looks like my fort will survive a siege with a population count of 1. That one is a baby, which is getting completely ignored by the goblin siegers even though it's crawling right next to them. I didn't know they had a heart, I mean they didn't have any problem slaughtering 50-ish adult dwarves, nearly as much domestic animals and an entire human caravan.

So that's not only tentacle monsters that are affected.

I think it makes sense in both cases.  Goblins snatch children and demons have captives in their pits.

Also, children will attack enemies whereas babies just crawl around.
