NRDL is actually pretty good at tracking. His problem with his hunting skills is that he isn't as proficient at using his spear. Seeing as he has no other tools to take down the animals he is hunting, this becomes a big problem.

For Warriors, Ahra probably is the best as his archery skill is close to a basic level. But Basic level is the key word here.
That's probably why the El-effichen did so poorly in their early combat I imagine, since they don't really have any high combat skill.

We are all going to die a slow, painful death by either starvation or torture from the warlike tribe, just because we have no warriors or our hunter ( me ) is pathetic.  Is there any other weapon I'm proficient at?  I know we don't have any other weapons, but while I'm hunting, someone could make a new weapon, if possible.

No, you are not. You could try for a new weapon that you might have more natural skill at. Really there is only two weapons that don't have hunting penalties with though, the spear and Bow. There are other techniques for hunting that could be used. One would be something Herders would be familiar with, although you aren't really a skilled enough herdsman for that to be effective.

As for starvation... Your tribe's primary source of food for generations is not hunting. It is Trading and herding. This is where you have your critical problem. Your herd is not big enough to last currently. Your tribe will still, at it's current rate, survive to next summer. The question is if it'll have a herd then. One year of dedicated practice will see a greater increase in your spear skill than one year of continued use. One year of training will see even a greater increase in spear skill than one year of dedicated practice.

At a Clanmeet, you have plenty of teachers, which micelus is about to take advantage of.

Ok cool.  So all I need is a year long training montage.

Well okay, sorry, I was a bit confused.
Mafun will accompany his fellows out patrolling for other suitable targets, then.
I hope I did it right this time... :-X

What does that happen to be?

What does that happen to be?
Trapping?
That's one of many.

Currently Nix is spear hunting solo. There isn't much assurance of success doing that unless you are a good tracker and can use your spear.
Each little hunting thing when the pray is tracked becomes a miniature battle between Nix and the Pray animal. It isn't hard to kill it, but Nix's spear skill is the minimum it can be, and the pray animal is determined to get away.

And yes NRDL, a Year-long training montage would be beneficial for you.

Yoink, that is fine.

Turn coming soon.

But what do you mean by "One would be something Herders would be familiar with"?
Why would a herder be better at hunting than a hunter?

Wow, you guys would be surprised how much of my "turns" turn into research about random crap, like... Shearing!
Then I gotta make some kind of way to simulate that reliably. In the end a set of numbers get pulled out of somewhere and Poof, I got an ability to find out how many pounds of wool you can extract from a sheep a year!

And now, what the heck do I do with this information?
Well shucks if I know, but I imagine the research will be the subject of another turn.

See, this is why I should keep my 1 a week schedule. This could burn me out otherwise. 4 Hours of research, crazy. Granted only about 30 or so minutes of it was actually devoted to sheep. Almache's foraging party required adjustments to my mechanics, which caused some issues, and there was other bits of research, and examining the plains that El-Effhichen are operating on right now... And I spent some time looking at other things... Actually I'd say 2 of those 4 hours were "TV Tropes Syndrome" of a research sort. I don't know why the distance from Paris to Moscow was important, but I did check into it...

Anyway.
Yes, good 'ole Buffalo drops.

Now, the turn!

Almache had another bad season. Actually this one was worse than the last one. One person is missing and presumed eaten.
Spoiler: Almache (click to show/hide)

(EDIT: El-Effhichen's sheep herd population didn't show the 300 they gained from deals. This is fixed.)
El-Effhichen have finished their summer "meetup". They won't be seeing the clan again until next year.
Spoiler: El-Effhichen (click to show/hide)

Normally I wouldn't mention how critical an aid the sea otters are, since it could go either way, but the RNG hated the Humans and Loved the Otters of the Gokanloa this season. If not for the otters, this village would have to rely on their harvest to make it to next spring :)
Spoiler: Gokanloa (click to show/hide)

Mokoli had a disporportionate rate of failure in keeping their borders secure. Unfortunatly for those who attempted to infiltrate them, they have a large tribe consisting of large amounts of warriors. Just the same, there is a battle report tucked in here.
Spoiler: Mokoli (click to show/hide)

The observant amongst you and those who doublecheck after seeing this will notice there is no change in food amounts for lost or gained people. This is because I don't want to keep track of it in any more detail than I currently do :)

If I could offer tips... Don't send 10 men in tiny groups to find the center of 100+ strong force again, at least unless they have a little bit of practice in stealth. You should really count yourself fortunate only one got caught. You had 85 men patrolling the area outside the tribal area, hunting and patrolling and such. In 5 man groups. I fudged the dice a little and made it a 1 in 5 chance Mafun would be involved instead of the 1 in 17 it should have been, but really that should be considered an advantage since Mafun doesn't get the +4 to his attack skill that the rest of the Mokoli have (He ain't very aggressive).

A bit about how I currently am running battles...

I have skills on a 1-20ish scale. Average skill level is 4. 8 would be "trained".
In a normal battle between two Almache kind of tribes, hits would be pretty low, because I compare the individual weapon skills of each warrior, and give a 1/4 modifier to the difference between them.
So, the "Hit" rolls are rolled to be at or below the modified number. Besides the difference in skill, there are other factors that add modifers to it, such as high ground, morale, and Agressive Trait. Very aggressive gives a +4 modifier to attacking, but gives the SAME modifier to being attacked. So Arv's axe skill pushes it well over an even chance to hit a average Mokoli warrior each combat round. Sometimes there is a different skill that is important that counts higher than a weapon skill. An example would be dodging for the deer that Nix keeps trying to kill, or Mafun's Shield Skill, which is over 200% higher than his club skill (though nobody has really attacked him in any real dangerous setting yet. He's always been rolling too deep to be messed with)

Wounds are a check of strength, modified by 1/4th the difference between them. Constitution gives a number of wounds per point. The average human will usually have 3 wounds they can take before dying.
Agression doesn't modify wounds, so where you have a pretty even chance of scoring hits, it's less than that for wounds. HOWEVER, certain weapons have different effects on the situation. In this case, the Axe gives an advantage over a simple club at inflicting a wound.

Armor saves also come into play. This time they each have a number that is needed to use it to prevent a wound. I don't know how they will stack yet, but so far I haven't run into anyone armored enough to have to count two different save things.

So why say this? Not for any reason in particular, but I figure since it seems fairly functional and now it's pretty stable, it'll be a good way to understand the mechanics I use here.

Hey, that's fine.

I guess I'll spend a season practicing my woodwork and tending to the children.
I didn't notice that I started with 0 skill...

Also I'll begin talking to Azkul about the slings used by the herders from my previous tribe, and see if I can convince him to try his hand with one.
