Day 1 ~ Newly widowed
As sun rises over Woodfell, a scream echoes across the small village. The mayors wife runs towards the town centre, eyes wet with tears. A small group gather to see what could have her in such a terrible state, the woman normally known for a calm demeanour. Through tears and sobs, she tells them what has become of her poor husband.
The mayor was murdered in the night, a single stab wound in he's chest, and a trail of blood leading from he's study. Why he was killed is unclear, but without a standing police force the townsfolk decide the best course of action is to send a messenger to the near by city of April and ask for them to send guards to protect the town and find the murderer. As news spreads, the bells of the local church ring out to herald the death.
Another, older man, with a large pack on he's back, approaches the group. They inform him of the morning discoveries, and their letter to the capital, but he slowly shakes he's head.
“No, I was just out on the west road, and armed men have blocked the exists, patrols circle the town boundaries, and they refuse to let anybody in or out”, he tells them, with a tired expression “They tell me that a dangerous criminal has been sighted in the area, and have orders to not let anybody pass for the time being. Getting a message out? I don't see that happening,”
The group is left silent. They were trapped in their own town, while sinister forces stalked the night. One man, carrying a large rusted sword, speaks out.
“There will be no aid from the outside world, so our duty is clear. We must find this sinner ourselves, and bring justice to the mayor.”
Day one has begun.
