Hard Reset
« on: September 08, 2011, 02:05:15 pm »

After trying out the demo, I decided it deserved a thread here.

Anyway, steam says:
About the Game
In the only remaining human city of Bezoar, Major Fletcher, an Army Combat Veteran and soldier of the CLN, is dragged into a conflict between two of mankind's greatest enemies. He is to discover that nothing is what it seems to be.

Hard Reset is an action-packed, single-player shooter for the PC. With over-the-top destruction, loads of enemies, great weapon variety and a beautifully realized cyberpunk setting, Hard Reset is sure to shake up the shooter scene.

Key features:
A haunting cyberpunk / dark sci-fi setting
Fast-paced, old-school shooter gameplay
Hordes of enemies to destroy
Epic boss fights
A deep, experience-based weapon upgrade system
High-fidelity graphics with full dynamic lighting
Extensive use of physics and dynamic environments

What I say is that its a game where you have 2 guns, which each have five modes, which each have an alt fire. That makes 20. Or maybe 19 cause the starter mode for the "bullet" gun has a zoom as an alt fire, and why would you get that when you can get a charge shot for the plasma gun?

The action is really good, theres a crapton of stuff blowing up, and the guns feel really good. What I was most impressed by was when I shot a charged shot into the middle of a large pack of enemies, and rather than fall over dead, they flew in every direction.

I think Im gonna go play the demo again and try to get a screenie of that. It looked really awesome.

And to start off the discussion, which gun/mode do you prefer(if you can get that from a demo)?

I'm trying really hard to not buy this game until it goes on sale, and you are making it very difficult.   :P

In the only remaining human city of Bezoar
The last human city is named after an unwanted gastrointestinal mass?

I am making it difficult for myself too.

Played the demo on hard. Spent the finale of the demo running between cars and posts trying to get those big guys away from me while shooting at them whenever I could and trying to desperately find medkits and ammo(I did).

Hardest difficulty next.

EDIT: Hahaha.

Bezoars are highly prized for their ability to render one immune to poisons, as the legend goes.

So the last human city is named after an unwanted gastrointestinal mass which has attached to it a completely fraudulent legend?

Correct.

And its decided that when I get the game, I will play it at the highest difficulty. Its way too awesome too take out the big guys like that.

While the game is beautiful, I just can't seem to enjoy a straightforward shooter anymore. Unless it has random generation, an rpg element, crafting or deep puzzles I can't get into it. Sweet looking game though.

Fun demo, after all the RPG-FPS hybrids I've been playing of late something that is pretty much a straight forward corridor shooter without delving into the silly amounts of enemies and general zaniness of Serious Sam is a much wanted relief.

Random generation? Really? What FPS games other than Borderlands prominently feature random generation?

Ace of Spades.
At least, it did.  Apparently there are pre-made maps now or something.

I'm sure there are others.

Yes, played the demo too. Was pretty nice looking, had fun enemys and an interesting setting. I think about buying it. But alas, no time to play all those awesome games . . .

Too bad it won't run on my craptop with an Intel Media Graphics Accelerator, or whatever it is, in place of an actual graphics card. Actually, not too bad, because if I could run modern games on here too, I would be getting fines for having $0.00 balance in my checking account.
