Any gun is good with Hydroshocks, but obviously the more accurate and fast-firing ones are the best. My medic has a UMP, which seems to synergize quite well.

What gun is good with Hydroshock shells? My newest recruit has Dual Pistols and Hydroshock Shells, and a standard shotgun. Should I aim for an assault rifle or similar fast-firing weapon, or try to get an aiming boost on the dual pistols?

I'm a big fan of dual pistols. They're actually pretty awesome, and with Hydroshock you should see a lot of kill shots with those.

Only problem is, I need more defense on the guy. I'm getting raped by long-ranged weapons. I set the aiming to the heart, which works well (Most of the time), but the guy dies -immediately-...

It doesn't help that he runs out ahead of everybody else, then stops and waits for his enemies to fire a volley into him.

Farce, propaganda is a comms activated skill that any trooper can use given enough command points. I usually use it during my first few raids.

IN OTHER NEWS! Me being drunk and having just seen turisas live :D  doesn't seem to have helped my rat slaying. Oh well, what a shame.

my champion is now holding his artifact crossbow by his upper left leg and still shooting with is just fine despite having no hands.

HP (if that's what you mean by defense) isn't all that great. A lot of attacks are one-hit kills. With high enough HP you will survive rocket explosions but not in shape to put any meaningful fight. I've found priority, evasive and to a lesser extent speed perks much more useful at keeping my assault troopers alive. Dodger is every sniper's dread.

I have a shotgun recruit with Take Cover, Zigzag, and Rush, and he never fails to get a shot off. I just need a better shotgun for him and maybe Sprinter, and he'll be a combat god.

P.S. Somebody attack me. Orlater leveled up and got Battle-ready, so I want to see what he can do when he has more than one shell in his semi-auto shotgun.

That's probably gonna happen until your army gets hats. Comms can help your assault troop act faster, saboteurs screw up the enemy's guns, or make him a spy and he'll show up in pistol range immediately :D

HP and armor can be pretty decent if you get to stack them – there was my post upthread; you can't see the battle anymore, but the guy ate three rockets, he has 27 hit points and heavy armor – but, generally, yes, evasion and initiative are better. Zigzag would be good for your pistol guy. So would the motorcycle, Twinoid, Sprinter, On Point, Dodger, Tuck & Roll, probably Camouflage, a bunch of other stuff.

Also I gave Kungfu and Johnss recruits with rocket launchers. Everyone loves recruits with rocket launchers!

So here are all my armies. This is partially to say "yes, I would like some recruits if you can spare them" and partially to come clean and let you know if I was attacking you. I probably was!

- Atomizer - best/ highest level army
- Subatomic - B-army, 5 soldiers; kind of crap at the moment since it has no rockets, comms officers, saboteurs, or spies
- Dudeswithguns - B-army, 5 soldiers; second-best, since it does have rockets and a comms officer
- Human Targets - another B-army with 5 guys
- No Limit Soldiers - my first theme army; will retire as soon as one of them gets a tank
- Midnight Bombers - my attempt at a LOL Rockets, but it only has two rockets right now, I should have recruited more carefully
- Human Wave - the most famous army, enormous and terrible! 8 level one soldiers! A little over halfway to buying soldier number nine! Who costs 720 credits! I may die first

And a couple of new theme armies:

- The Samuel L. Jackson 5 - all Samuel L. Jacksons. Only has 3 guys so far. Finding Ordell is going to be a bitch
- Jacob's Ladder - an all-twinoid army. These guys could end up being pretty mean actually

Anyway, so that's who's been attacking you in case you were wondering.

That's mostly what I meant by defense, a la dodging things. Once I get these "Hats", I'll definitely get him the Spy one. His combination of Hydroshock shells and Explosive shells means an almost guaranteed kill every shot. Maybe an initiative booster, and there you go, a literal glass cannon. Thanks for the information though! ^_^

Remember: Hats are random, and you only get to choose between two (or three if you have Smart).

Also try to get him Heartbreaker for 12x killshots to the heart and Anatomy for the extra chance to hit there.
