Increase relations. War is a tool just like anything else in the game- unless you have something to gain by using it, there's no point in taking it out. It sounds like you're strong enough to fend them off but too weak to gain territory or reparation money. Although you could let them take a province, end the war, and then use that province as a justification when you're ready to invade.

I really have to know, how does the terms of war work?  I know you cannot just invade and annex the whole country, so what are the terms you can use in war?

Just hit the "declare war"-button in the diplomacy screen, and you'll get a list of different war goals. Most likely all the buttons will be red, it means you don't have a justification for that war goal and you'll get some infamy at declaration.

If the war progresses well, you can always add more war goals; so basically you CAN take a big chunk of the country, but with a high infamy cost. If your infamy goes too high, the whole world will start declaring war on you.

I had to destroy my cement factory, cement just doesn't make enough of a profit on the world market.  Now, my income has trickled and slowed, but my military is bigger.  I need them, because a bunch of crazy pan-nationalists keep rallying support for their cause.  I already put down two revolts.

My favorite thing to do is to screw world history up.

It happens a lot in my PDM games.

Necro.
Was playing as a modern Japan, when I was overrun by communists. Somehow that made alot of farmers become soldiers, so I took over China and Korea. Cue to the 1900's, the communists strike back with 1000 brigades over all of Japan while my main army is fighting some small African country.  Everyone is a soldier. 5000 military score and raising, 2000 brigades possible. Industry is dead though.
I could possibly declare war on the entire world and just hold them all off. But that's stupid.

I bought this game, but was slightly iintimidated by the giant walls of graphs, and numbers. I suppose I could try it again.

I don't actually have access to Vicky 2 right now, but there's still one big problem when I play as Wallachia again.  As a satellite, I can't do anything with other nations.  How do I stop becoming a satellite?

I've been under the impression that you lose satellite status if you get a successful revolution. Ramp up your militancy, get some revolutionaries and allow them to occupy your capital. After a period of time the revolution should succeed and you'd be free from the warm embrace of the Ottomans. It's been a while so feel free to correct me.

Liberals seem to be the bane of all of my games... I was just playing as sweden, and managed to unite scandinavia. I was building/expanding around three factories a month, and people were moving to craftsmen and clerks by the tens of thousands. I'm getting 40 research points, and my military is growing. Unfortunately, I'm a democracy, and the liberal party came into power... 50 years later, and I still can't break their coalition. My economy has stagnated for that whole period, there are thousands unemployed in every province, and all the AI will build is clothing. I've taken every event and option possible to encourage the spread of socialism, and yet they're still 6% behind the liberals.

I find the only way to make cement factories profitable is to first have a developed enough country/economy with high demand for cement, then jack up tariffs and force people to buy your cement rather than the cheaper stuff from abroad. It also helps if you get a few nations under your sphere of influence. Yay mercantilism.

I always assumed that if rebels occupied the capital, it would be game over for me.
