I just realized something
« on: September 06, 2011, 07:44:27 pm »

a lot of my dreams are about death, either me dieing, killing someone, or someone close to me dieing.
one example was last night were i turned a witch into a rat because she was immune to all my other spells and stabbed her to death with my pencil. other dreams involve me getting shot to death by nazis, getting dismembered by pacific islanders, and getting hit in the head by a brick. and in some dreams, after i die i go through a different after life, usually involves me roaming the world. Is this normal?

You might want to move this to life advice.
I don't see anything wrong with violent dreams. Now if your thinking about these things all day than there might be a problem.

Yes. Everyone dies at some point, it is the only constant. Thus your dreams should have a higher amount of it then anything else if they are to be logical.

I've certainly heard of dreams that involve post death experiences, but I've never experienced one personally. I'd attribute to it as a sign of depression, or a fear of not knowing what happens after death.

Of course, what do I know? I barely even understand my own dreams.

I have dreams almost exactly like that on occasion, but not as graphic. Not very often at all. Somewhere around 3-4 times a year.

Are all of your dreams like this, most...? Giving a rough estimate fraction or percentage, if you can, might help. If you have these every night, that's a bit odd.

You might get more answers in Life Advice; at least, more helpful ones. Unless you just wanted to know if other people dream like this.

I'd have to say, roaming dreams are my favorites, even if most are post-death. They generally end up being fiction/fantasy-like epics for me, in which I become a hero or die again trying. Are your dreams like this, perhaps, or just dieing?

What else do you dream about, if you don't mind sharing? A bit of "context" could help with analysis and all that.

"Move thread" is in the bottom left corner, next to the lock button.

at least 66% of my dreams are like this
also the wander dreams aren't all that fun, i mostly just go to either people i know or people with blank faces and watch them react to my death, its always quite sad.
my other dreams usually involve me protecting my house from nazgul, nazis, nazi-nazgul, japanese, orcs, pretty much anything. I like those dreams the best because they are fun.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I often have surreal and dark dreams as well, and several people think I am a healthy, upstanding guy.

Okay, so, today this girl I know-Lauren, just took a sudden dis-interest in talking to me. Is she just on her period or something?

It is normal.
Imagine that your mind has two, erm, vials, and this vials are being filled constantly. The first of them is Libido(life and love drive), the second is Mortido(death and destruction drive). If one of the vials is full, you`ll go nuts, so your subliminal consciousness tries to empty them in every possible way - and in dreams, too.
It seems you aren`t fulfilling your death instinct IRL enough. Try training martial arts or something like that.

I do not believe a word of it, but I like it. It sounds like it would make an interesting video-game mechanic.

Oh you. It sounds like a game mechanic because I tried to make it simple and imaginable :)  It`s Freudian psychology IIRC, I`ve read this on medical forum... the guy asked something like "why so much violence in my dreams?" too and he got this answer from a doctor.

Huh... I guess my life-jar must be super full and my death jar is always empty then because I don't dream or think about death.

Unless... I empty it by playing video games?

I HAVE STUMBLED UPON THE SOLUTION FOR ALL VIOLENCE
