Ambasador doesn't want to leave.
« on: September 06, 2011, 10:03:49 am »

I messed up.  My mayor was far to busy to meet with the ambasador so the ambasador got angry and tried to leave.  Except that my drawbridge was up.  After I tried to let him out, he didn't make a beeline for the bridge.  So now he's wandering around with an "!".  Will he eventually go or should I be worried or should I put one of those mascot costumes on him and call it a day?

ps. I'm out of garbage stone due to a megaproject.  Time to get the miners back to work.

Check his status, will ya? [v] over him. If it says he's insane, he's just shit out of luck and will die.

By 'ambassador' do you mean Diplomat, or Liaison?

In either case, they won't get fed up and leave just because you're taking too long.  Your mayor must have become unavailable, either by going into a strange mood or being replaced by someone else.

What happened then is that you wouldn't let the visitor leave, and after enough time passed they went insane (that's what the blinking '!' means).  There's no hope for them now.  They'll either eventually leave, or just randomly die.

If other dwarves aren't running from him and he hasn't been eaten by the local pet population, then he isn't berserk and isn't dangerous. If he were, then you could trap him with a cage trap.

If he tries throwing himself off a cliff or drowning himself, then he's melancholy as those dwarves attempt suicide.

The other option, stark raving mad, involves him tearing off his clothes and wandering around until he star... wait, can visitors starve to death? You might be stuck with him until he dies of old age if he isn't melancholy or berserk.

I left him alone for a while and now I can't find him.  So I guess he left or was eaten by a plump helmet.
