Ehm ... Android?
« on: September 06, 2011, 09:28:01 am »

And finally I've found the definitive game forum, thanks.

Now the question, some Android good game? I like the strategic/management/adventure/rpg genre and after some weeks of searching the only good game I've found is a russian Magic card game like and some multiple choice text games.
I don't like fast paced action games (and tower defense games) and the strategic games are almost all "social" games, which I don't like.
The few roguelike are ... ehm ... horrible.
Some hint?
Thanks.

There's Android emulators for some of the old console systems out there (from NES to GBA). And so far the best I've been able to find was emulating GBA games. Normal Android games I found to be totally boring.

Yes, I already have Znes9x and a psx emulator, I was curious if there are some good android native games.

I got a good chunk of amusement out of Angry Birds, other than that, solitaire, and a free chess game, I haven't found much else I enjoy. As for any actual strategy/fast paces/hardcore games, none that I know of...

So far I've got Majesty (it's a port of the PC game, fun and there's a demo), Battleheart (click and drag to make your party of heroes kill the attacking enemies, fairly fun, pretty light, might need a bigger screen to play it effectively), Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies (perennial fun), and demos of Game Dev Story and Hot Springs Story (both fun management-y type games, try the demos!).

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

I enjoy my GBA emulator.  Alchemy is good for some laughs.

3 Words - "Super Robot Wars" for the GBA. another forum user Boksi put me onto this series.

Super Robot Wars OG and Super Robot Wars J are available for GBA

!! BELOW IS A MUST-SEE VIDEO !!

Here's the official trailer for SRW OG, but the PS2 Version. Just for the drool factor

Now, tell me that video doesn't make you want to check out Super Robot Wars?

The games a turn based tactical battle game with sort of Final Fantasy type battle animations, and an RPG-style over-story.

Um, direct links to blatantly illegal material is kinda' frowned upon in the forum rules. Can you, ah, fix that? Thanks, heh.

Seconding the SRW suggestion, though. Both OG 1 & 2 and J, if you can get the translation for it working. Excellent games.

Don't like Angry Birds, but I have played and enjoied PVS. I uninstalled Mayesty when I found it was a rts (I don't like rt) but I will give it another try.
Thanks for the SRW suggestion, I'm not well into gba. What is the best gba emulator? Talking about rout roms there is plently of wonderful jrpg and strategic rpg on snes and psx emaulator (Valkirie profile, FFtactics and Vagrant story among the others).

I wouldn't call majesty an RTS, since it's more about you building things and having them take care of you.

Try Robotek HD. It's a mix of strategy and luck, and except for two premium features totally free (not even ads). Really pretty graphics too.

ALL the games by Kairosoft are management/strategy type games. So far they've released 3 on Android and one or two more over on iOS. https://market.android.com/developer?pub=Kairosoft+Co.,Ltd

Everything by Kairosoft. (Hot springs story, game dev story, grand prix story)

Though it's a shame the other games aren't ported to the android yet.

Why yes, it indeed does. This looks bloody awesome, if it is even a bit like Front Mission i´m gonna love it to death! ( I played and finished the japanese Front Mission without being able to speak one word japanese, go figure . . .)
