Can give water, but can't give self water
« on: November 01, 2007, 03:38:00 am »

If you zone an artificial body of water as water source, the dwarves can gather water for the sick from there, but they themselves can't drink from it.  Am I missing something, or is this a bug, or would they rather die than drink water?

Did they actually die?  If it's salt water, it's possible they'll still be able to give it away to the sick (bug).  If it's stagnant water, they won't drink until they are halfway between thirsty and dehydrated.

If this was something that was changed for 33a, it looks like you can't make salt water ponds, since you can't designate salt water as a water source.  Not a terrible loss for the most part, but it did make it impossible for me to get any rock at all at a seaside volcano.
