To be perfectly honest I felt slightly sorry for the invaders. Maybe it was the half crippled Titan being chased around by a demented super tough super agile God-Dwarf or maybe it was the horrible substances smeared all over the walls and stuck to dead rotting vomit ridden dwarves but I imagine the place wasn't exactly inviting to look at.

Ahh i see now, FB Infection Plus tantrum spiral bezerk equals zombie apocalypse.

I thought the FB infection caused the berzerking

It did in a way. It killed 50 dwarves and started a tantrum spiral. There was a lot of verlap between the times i've described. The 50 who died originally were the ones who went SOLELY because of infection. After a point it became the beserking that was killing people more than infection.

Recently, I built another trap to melt dangerous Forgotten Beasts haunting two of my (connected) cavern layers, I used a long corridor leading to my fort with a door that had magma behind it, which when released activated a trigger sealing off the corridor.

As soon as I exposed the corridor to the caverns, about 40 citizens made a rush into the corridor. I'd designated most of the corpses on the map for dumping into my magma garbage chute, many of which were in the caverns as was the skeleton and clothing of the sole victim of the forgotten beasts.

I watched the pressurized magma slowly creep up and murder all the idiots before I savescummed.

I was beseiged, then every single one of my fighters who was injured in some way died due to infection before I could get soap to them. Not sure if my fault, or the game just being a dick. Probably both.
