My militia commander was called Feb Posthands the Bronze Door of Calamaties and he was a god. He basically destroyed the titan in this epic duel all the way down the mineshaft then dragged himself half dead to the surface and died in a wave of goblins with chunks flying all around him. He was armoured in steel and his shield and axe were named artifacts (he had named them after using them so much). His final kills were like 175 notable. 3 forgotten beasts, the titan, a minotaur and about 100 or so goblins. He was surrounded by a pile of dead when he finally went and I actually mean surrounded. The hall he died in was completely full of bodies and all the walls were red. He is my Holistic Detective. I like to imagine dwarves in other worlds I spawn have gods of war and death that are actually Feb in some spirit guise that travels around scaring the shit out of any enemy of dwarfdom. The actual zombies were all fairly weak coz none were military. My crossbow dwarves had the coolest fights. It was like a combination of intense tunnel fighting where they would come round a corner and be charged. Someone would get off a shot at the charger then try to hammer it down. Then suddenly another group of infected would burst out of a side door and start clawing at the squad. The miners caused the most problems as their steel picks were pretty potent. Then they were in the actual halls which were 3 wide corridors and wide spacious workshops with statues and engravings. Then the fights were me forbidding doors to channel the enemy into killzones. I was essentially trying to maneouvre them out of the place without causing too much hassle but eventually they succumbed as the entrance halls became absolute clusterfucks of goblins, elves, humans and infected. My only regret is I didn't get it on tape. Oh also that I didn't have some sort of secret super bunker where one dwarf was locked away with a lever that flooded everything with magma. That would have been awesome.

An ettin siege? No problem, just finish those cage traps and open the gates!
Oh,wow, that's a lot of ambushes and thieves.

At least I won. But at what cost. What terrible, terrible cost...

DFMP Embark.  GCS is on the surface a dozen steps from the starting seven.  Paused and disconnected.. left it for someone else :)

Literally, at last count, eight sieges in a row. Non-stop. Goblins every time. It started with only when there were only 80 dwarves too.

Infected? Do you mean zombies or is there actually a FB extract or illness that causes dwarves to turn against each other? because if so that is awesome and i'm happy i don't have to wait for the next update since this is exactly what i've been waiting for.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

It was just tons of people going beserk combined with necrosis and miasma and rotting and all sorts of other nasty stuff. I think something like 200 dwarves went beserk by the end and loads more died. The problem was the infection got past my quarantine and started causing mayhem so I basically had everything devolve into a massive slaughter house. There was so much going on I couldn't prevent anywhere from being overrun by either refugees (people who were infected moving into area with food, beds, safety etc) or enemies from outside or beserkers who wanted to kill everything.

Oh yeah you can sum my post up as
"My fort lost so hard it resembled a post apocalyptic zombie movie combined with a blood sprinkler"
Ardentdikes had this as well I believe and so did Headshoots at one point (although Headshoots wasn't FB syndrome it was just melancholy). Although neither of them fell apart quite so spectacularly as Spearhalls.

your post also reveals that dwarf fortress has both old fashioned zombies and the new 2000s infection zombies (as infection zombies generally are supposed to be alive)

Ahh i see now, FB Infection Plus tantrum spiral bezerk equals zombie apocalypse.

A fort with the Legends Of Forlorn Realms Mod.
10 Dorfs, no weapons, except axes for woodcutting. Just had my first merchants leave.
I get

They are bog trolls. Basically, Bog trolls dont run, they go berserk and kill things. I kill all of them with the loss of 4 dorfs.
Then.
Thief! Protect the hoard from skulking filth!

They are lizardmen and Bog trolls. I kill all of them and have 4 dorfs remaining. I try to make them better, giving them awesome bedrooms and a legendary dining room. But what happens?
One of them rages and kills the other. The other two kil the murderer. One of the remaining two gets melancholy because she gets a mood and I dont have the materials. The other one is crippled for life.
And guess what happens next?
Migrants Have Arrived.

Don't forget the hordes of invaders!

The game just gave me a frightening fate: I was beaten senseless all throughout the night by bogeymen, surviving unconscious until morning, whence I traveled away and managed to heal all the bruising and vision loss they caused. When I went to sleep the next night in a hostile town, outside the door(hoping to run inside and hide form the bogeymen), they killed me before I could move inside. Still wasn't a fast or painless death.
