This thread seems to be a place where you look for other libertarians, since it is not as though you have advanced any topics for debate or responded to anything anyone was actually saying.

Well, I voted other. I completely agree with Libertarian philosophy as I understand it, I just find that I almost never agree with the party's policies. That's often because I'm okay with a government that is powerful in many ways, because it's often the least terrible option as far as keeping people free goes. This also means that I'm okay with higher taxes, particularly on the wealthy (again, lesser evil).

My friend, that is not Libertarian. Government can not do anything right. I believe that the Government should only protect us from the Evil Communists from China.

I really wish I knew the wording to that Nietzsche quote, that no matter the specifics, every philosopher who imagines an ideal government imagines himself at its head.  I consider it a truism for all discussion of politics.

My views on Gun Control:
I believe that we should be able to have any type of weapon at your home and be able to conceal any type of handgun in public.
After all statistics show that more guns=less crime.

And yet I believe that individual freedom is the highest good a government (or any authoritative body) can promote. My understanding is that this is the philosophical basis on which stands Libertarianism, and the reasoning used to arrive at policies they have.

As for gun control:

Yes, provided effective regulation (stricter requirements for more extremely effective weapons). The licensing procedure for a handgun? Just contact information and not having committed a felony. A nuclear arsenal? A majority vote on the part of the citizens of your nation certifying your reliability and trustworthiness to handle the responsibility, along with a thorough background check.
