Political Debate (U.S.)
« on: September 05, 2011, 06:31:39 pm »

Hullo everyone. I just want to see what your political beliefs are.

Here is how it will work:
*You may troll; it is a form of Free Speech
*No spamming
*No "OMG your such a bastard." posts. Remember: Criticize only ideas, not people.
*You may use outside links like Wikipedia and such
*Everyone is welcome! Including Moderators (if your political)
*I expect to hear all political beliefs. Communism, Liberalism, all is welcome!
*Enjoy!

P.S. For the first few posts I will debate with you. Don't expect me to debate with everyone, but I will try.
Debate with one another!
Please be serious.

Right, more SERIOUS. Anyway, I do not have a political party. Does that make me Independent or apolitical?

I'm for Philosopher Kings, as long as I get to be king!

... What, no?  I was just kidding, anyway.  I'm still forming my political opinions, but somewhere left of Democrat with a side of Green and massive amounts of Flaming Feminist is probably about correct.

Independent. We must be ready to change as the world changes. That said, there is a list of principles I wouldn't compromise on for anything.

Why? It would be a state of chaos.

I'm not of voting age yet, but a test I took told me that I was a 'neoliberal democrat' (and all the bars on the chart were ALL the way in the liberal side. I'm some sort of uberliberal, I suppose?).

That's pretty accurate.

Personally I think the whole fact that only two parties that have any chance of winning exist is pretty saddening..if you don't fit into either of those molds you're just S.O.L.

Well, I voted other. I completely agree with Libertarian philosophy as I understand it, I just find that I almost never agree with the party's policies. That's often because I'm okay with a government that is powerful in many ways, because it's often the least terrible option as far as keeping people free goes. This also means that I'm okay with higher taxes, particularly on the wealthy (again, lesser evil).

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

So you are Elite Liberal then, eh? The sad thing about Freedom-Loving American is that there are only two parties that count. Since I am a Libertarian (whitch is NOT Liberal, I have posted a link) it kind of sucks.
