Mr Toein returns carrying a silver briefcase, and two other men set up a table before leaving once again. He coughs to get your attention, then opens the briefcase. Showing six special black pokeballs, and a strange machine that looks something like an antique sewing machine. Except where the needle would normally be a smallish radar dish is pointed towards a depression under it.
"This machine will be used to transport pokemon you have caught back to headquarters for research." He indicates the machine. "For each captured pokemon you will be reinbursed for the cost of the pokeball, as well as a bonus depending on the rarity and type of pokemon."
"Pokemon you send to us this way will be deemed research materials. So only send those you capture for this purpose. Also, repeat pokemon will not give the same amount of payment, and too many of the same type will eventually result in no payment for the transfered pokemon."
Larry Toein takes the black pokeballs out of the briefcase and closes it. "These are special pokemon changed to be used for storage." He presses the button on the black ball he holds, and the ZOP sound is followed by a very large Grey Voltorb appearing in the middle of the room.
"Alright, use self destruct!"
The strange grey pokemon does not explode like expected, it however pops open like a giant pokeball, revealing a massive cavity inside. While open the voltorb's eyes are closed, and it seems like nothing more than a large spherical piece of luggage.
"These pokemon can no longer fight or do other tasks, but we can use their carrying capacity to store items inside the shrinking nature of pokeballs."
He places the suitcase inside the Voltorb and closes the pokemon back to normal before calling it to return and having it shrink to the normal carrying size of about a plum.
He mentions that the others have already been installed with the transfer machines and hands one out to each of you(except for Ruby, let's assume someone else in the party holds on to her storagemon). Mr. Toein makes note that these are not counted towards official pokemon, but you should probably keep the technology secret, as there may be those who wish to steal the company secrets.
"There are two parts to your first task."
"First, you are to explore the three temple sites found in the wilderness outside the city. These temples hold relics from ancient times that seem to relate to pokemon. "
Larry Toein brings out a PDA looking device with a small map on it centered on town. "The closest shrine is to the southwest on the other side of the steelix mountain range. Those of you wishing to challenge the gyms should note that the leader of Haven City's steel-type gym is currently there working at a fossil dig site at this shrine."
Larry Toein indicates the opposite side of the city, "Just a litte further from here is another shrine to the east. Through the pidgy plains, at the edge of the sandshrew desert. You might also want to visit the berry orchard east of town. They say pokemon of all sorts show up there."
"And the last temple is to the northwest. You have to cross the wooded sudowodo mountain range, and pass through the weedle forest on the other side. It stands in a small patch of rocky desert called the sandile pits. It can be difficult to find, as it is a full week's journey even if you go directly northwest."
"You are to explore the temples, and return with the item the ancients worshiped by any means nessicary. However, Illegal activities will most likely cause the company to deny any connection, and label you a thief of your starter pokemon."
Larry Toein smirks, "Off the record, just don't get caught."
"Second, you are to find an example of each type of pokemon material. This being bone, skin, and meat. One sample for each of the 17 different types of pokemon. And then transfer them via the machines in your storage orbs."
"Finally, here are your PokePDAs." He hands you each a small flat Ipad looking object. "I didn't name them, so don't look at me like that. These will function as your link to the company database, and if you hold them up and point the camera at a pokemon they will show you all we know of the species."
"They will also allow for long distance phone calls, and emails should you need to contact the company. As well as show you an auto-updating map of where you have been." ((Ze Auto Map, Map.)) "However, do note that you must be within distance of a communications tower such as the one here in the city to be able to broadcast and recieve things like phone messages, and emails. Most rural locations do not have such communications equipment, so you will be on your own with the offline database."
"Also, make note that your starter pokemon have all been tagged with a microchip that allows you to find each other in the local area. If you ever become seperated, check this function in the PDA and follow the given radar to be reunited with the group."
Larry Toein then spends a good 10 mins explaining this again to Ruby, and making sure she gets it, even if he has to tell her it is a pokemon that helps her find her friends and talk to him sometimes.
"Other than that you are welcome to do what you will, but keep the company goals in mind. You have three months to at least show some results. Otherwise there will be a review. Beyond that, explore, capture, battle the league and the contests and in general put on a good show for those seeking to see the company have a better reputation."
Battle exp: 1500 for each trainer to give to pokemon.
Some loots were found by Kath.
And a handful of Buneary were caught.
