Glad to hear your problem was resolved Darion, sorry I wasn't around to help out.

Seems to me like the crew name has been decided to be Children of Armok (Was suggested by hitty40, Seconded by Seiryu, then both Drkpaladin and Hemmingjay agreed on it)

Right now (given I can't actually play) I'm considering what to do to make it as simple as possible to run a crew and pillage(not to mention send out invites). To that end I think we should set up two Senior Officers who will be online a lot and have no problem with learning how to bnav and runing pillages when other people are offline. I would like to hear what everyone thinks about that, and if it's not too much to ask I'd love to get some posts about what timezones everyone is in so we could start seeing who could potentially run for either position. Apple_Master has already shown interest in the EU-SO position.
I strongly suggest making owning a ship the only requirement for Officer, as otherwise you can't sail your own ships, and all officer does is let you sail unlocked and unowned ships.

And only put quite trusted people as SOs, I've had multiple bad experiences costing tens of thousands of PoE due to abusive SAs, and it takes a Captain to remove them (as opposed to a SA required for FO and lower.

Can officers invite people to become a cabin person? If so that'd work out to be so much cheaper than promoting SOs (Given that SO badges cost twice the amount)

As far as ship = officer, I'd be good with that so long as it only applies to the Bay12 crew. Undoubtedly we'll end up inviteing non-bay12s and while I'm comfortable trusting Bay12ers to not just sell off all of a ship's commodies and run off with the money I am not too sure about Joe Green who we just picked up because he was a nice guy in our pillage.

We have a ship, but the official crew hasn't been formed yet so we can not use it quite yet. I'm hoping that a good few hours tonight on the bnav puzzle will get me from apprentice to narrow and we'll be good.

logout and when you see your character and ocean, there is a button next to it that says change. We are on Sage.

Regular officers can't take money out of ship coffers. They can only put money in, sell commodities and items (goes into SHIP coffers, not player), and buy commodities from ship coffers (only for that ship, from the ship screen, it can't be transfered to other ships). The only people that can take money from ship coffers are that ship's owner, and SOs.
Possibly Fleet Officers as well, but I think that that just applies to charts and bidding tickets, for them.

Speaking of which, bidding tickets are fun.

What style of governing shall the crew have? (Oligarchy, Monarchy, and Democratic are the options.)

And I think that plain officers can turn jobbers into Cabin People, but a SO (if Oligarchic crew) or Captain (if Monarchy) or votes (Democracy) have to be used to change rank to Pirate, ect.

I say Democratic, since it gives everyone a fair chance.

Plus, now that we have a Sloop, we need to use it for trading missions so we can get some PoE. Forgaging might also rake in some PoE, but I'm not too sure.

I'm of a mind that democratic would be cool, but could possibly be a hinderance if we decide to invite non-Bay12ers (which I was kind of planning on doing, see if we could get enough people to regularly field a 30-man ship for pillaging)

I'd personally perfer an Oligarchy where we vote SOs in. I'm not of the mind to keep the crew from having a voice, I'm more interested in saving us the hastle of losing a great name because someone got into the crew and somehow manages a hostile takeover on it.

Edit: We also have to consider payment methodology. I was thinking 'Jobbers First' so that we can actually attack jobbers in, and given our size we really wouldn't have to use many jobbers for the sloop for sure, possibly a longship or dhow we could fill as well.

Jobber's Delight, otherwise you'll have 0 Jobbers, ever. Last time I played it was hard with that and an only 15% restocking cut (goes to ship so that lower ranked officers can't take it)...but that wasn't really enough to restock without using some/most of my own cut as well.

If you really want to maintain a caste system where Bay12 members are in-charge over the non-bay12 users, Ogligarchy would likely be best.

Well, we don't want non-bay12ers to stage a violent mutiny against the bay12ers, so it makes sense. I'm pretty much with Denzi on this one.

Jobbers' first makes sense for the reasons everyone has stated, at least until we have enough crew to reliably pillage without jobbers EVER.

Also, as stated, I'm open/would like to I guess be the EU/GMT SO, if only because I'm always around anyway.

Democratic isn't really a good idea, its best to go with autocratic, or oligaric if you're worried about the captain going inactive.  You can still ask the crew about any issues, but you don't get the hassle of getting everyone to vote any time you need to change something.

Jobber is someone that joins the crew briefly for the pillage or whatever you're doing. Basically any time you take a job from the notice board you're a jobber.

I used to play this way back when it was still in beta.

Decided to create a new player. In as Freefall, and I've got a mighty 500 PoE to my name. I'd like to join up with you guys when you form up a crew.

edit, to reply to below: As it happens, I started on Admiral Island. I'm ready to go.
