I have to ask then, if you do not like the Kraken choices then what do you think the name should be? I'm trying to get a name here that at least everyone would be fine with using, but it has been brought up time and time again that 'The Twelfth Bay' is just as disliked as any of the Kraken choices.

Should I put Boat Murderers back up? or What? I need possible solutions here if you are going to argue against what the majority is going for. If you are not willing to offer alternatives then I really can't do anything.

I didn't see the final results, but on both the first and second polls I saw, The Twelfth Bay was leading by a significant margin.

I will admit there is definately a vocal minority that seems to really hate it.

Why would you take the choice that won both polls and throw it out when most people like it?

It didn't win the third poll though, Kraken Up did, followed by Boat Murderers. I assumed this meant that people stopped caring so much about that name once we started getting more original creative names out there.

Quite frankly, punny names usually wind up great for about a week, and then haunt you.

If someone wants to name a crew "Kraken <something>" under our flag, then by all rights, let them. However, our flag needs to be able to define our whole group at a glance, and if we're all Bay12ers (and potentially friends and family,) then we all fall under a B12/DF theme, because that's where we pooled together initially.

Good points Maximum, though I wonder what we could go for then in a B12/DF theme that isn't exactly an overt reference (which would fit part of the argument of requiring member crew of identifying with Bay12, something not many would consciously do I'd imagine) to Bay12 proper.

Also, where has all this discussion been all week guys? I'm glad to finally see some talking going on here.

I do agree with Maximum, but I really have nothing to contribute to this discussion.
I try to think of something, but I am not the.. discussable type..
I tend to avoid conflict or potential conflict or something that in the long run MAY become a conflict even if it's unlikely.

See, it's why I like Twelfth Bay (or Bay Twelve, or Twelve Bays, or some variation.) We from B12 identify with the twelve part, and we can have other names under that.

The only other thing I would be able to recommend is "Slaves to Armok."

in general, the vocal folks against Bay 12 themed names are just tired of seeing Twelve Bays and such on nealry every mmo type game. I have been following this forum for some time now, and thats pretty much the default guild/clan/whatever name. It also just sounds kinda lame imho. I liked most of the other names, but I also dont see any harm in taking some time to have a good name that will appeal to a broad set of players on PP. That leads me to the next point...

I know I came up with the most of the names on the current poll, I voted for Wise Kraken because i think thats the best pun. Dont like puns? then you must really hate Puzzle Pirates because every single shop i have seen is a pun. EVERY SINGLE ONE. The gameis full of puns, puns are what the game is full of. There are so many puns, I bet I can get a screenshot of at least 30 displayed at once. AT LEAST. I bet I could get a screenshot with 50 puns on it.

Did I mention that PP is full of puns? well it is. May be punny but its true.

P.S. Wise Kraken is the best name ever!!!

Why was boat murderers removed? It was piratey, related to bay12 but not in an overt way that forced others to associate, and did well in the poll.
