Having some issues adding mods to the mac version
« on: September 03, 2011, 06:38:18 pm »

I recently started attending KU, and received a mac as a gift to use while I'm here. This is all fine and dandy, but I'm more used to Windows, especially when it comes to Dwarf Fortress. It took me almost a week just to get the mac version itself to run because of some bugs it has, and after that I've been struggling to get Phoebus and Legends of Forlorn Realms to work. The closest I've came is betting the tileset functioning and getting the game to start genning a map, wherin it promptly crashes. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

So has no one tried getting mods to work with the mac version?

If the mac version is being screwy, you might want to check out WineBottler. It's a free binary port of Wine to OSX, and you can use it to run Windows programs (or at least some of them). I know DF works fine with it, so its mods should do okay as well if you get the preinstalled packages. If you want to compile Wine from source on OSX rather than use WineBottler, you can do that as well.

I've written bash scripts to make using DF easier under Linux!

Works for me, just fine.

What, exactly, is going wrong? You install mods to DF in the same way as in windows. If the mod uses executables, then it probably won't work.
