Warhammer 40k RTS"S: Which one should I get?
« on: September 03, 2011, 05:00:35 pm »

Okay, I have a hole burning in my steam wallet, and I think I want a warhammer rts.
Which one should I get?
IIRC my choices are: Soulstorm, Dark Crusade, and GOLD EDITION.
Alternatively, should I just say screw it and buy x-com?

Also how do I add polls?
Done.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

What's wrong with DoW2?

What's wrong with DoW2?

It only allows you to play as SPHESS MARINES in the single player if IIRC.

Get Dark Crusade, patch it with DoWpro if you plan on playing multiplayer so you don't wind up with the overpowered eldar.

If you won't be playing multiplayer, then get the first one + winter assault

avoid Soulstorm like the plague

DoW 2 plays very differently, more like an RPG than a base building RTS. f you prefer micro, then get DoW2

Get whatever has Winter War so you can play as the IG.

Chaos rising you are still marines.

Retribution was really all about Kaptin Bluddflagg or the Bluhd Ravens. most every other campaign felt somewhat thrown together imo

Dark Crusade is in my opinion the best one - so far. Remember to not play on any but the highest difficulty though, otherwise the AI will be a bit underwhelming.

Soulstorm.. No.

For real though, Dawn of War 2 is actually pretty slick despite being a straight up infomercial for Space Marines Being Tough As Heck.

Get Platinum Edition if you can, it's got regular DoW, Winter Assault, and Dark Crusade.  Don't bother with Soulstorm, it's not as good.  The first three are great.

dark crusade.

personally i liked the DoW2, but i do not like plaing as SPEHS MARIESH! all the time.

DoW2: retribution's campaigns were all the same maps. and the story sucked.
