Dwarf size
« on: September 03, 2011, 07:31:30 am »

Is there any way to find out what the current size of a dwarf is?
A program like Runesmith or Therapist (they don't show size) maybe?

I'd like to create a pike/halberd squad in my current fortress, but I'm NOT going to shift through 200+ dwarves and manually assign them with pikes to see if they are big enough to handle them.

Are you just looking for the average adult size of a dwarf?  It's listed on the wiki.

No, not the average.
I'm looking for bigger than average size dwarves, since you need atleast a size 62500 dwarf to wield a pike and the average is only 60000.

I don't know that either runesmith or DT allows you to check the size of a dwarf. I honestly have never even thought of it. Runesmith is great for checking who will make a good soldier as it gives you the values which makes it stupid easy. I don't see a size listing though.

I'm unaware of a way see their size. The only thing I can suggest is just check each dwarf's description in the migrant waves each time they come, because once they fully integrate into the rest of the population looking through them then is just a nightmare. That will pace it out and make it less tedious.

Yeah I wish I had looked at their description when they migrated, but unfortunately I didn't.
Now it's either check over 200 dwarves, or forget the whole thing.

Damn.

make a trap for a specific weight limit, put it in the dining hall and wait for a fatty to trigger it? turn off the safeties first tho.

A pressure plate might work.  You could set one to trigger for a human-sized citizen, and then march your dwarves over it.

As for the problem at hand.
If you have a managable # of dorfs in your fort (about 50) then check them in the descriptions one by one.
If you have over 100 then i'd suggest building a pressure plate based selection system.
