I just heard about this, can't wait to try it when I get home from work. But it looks pretty interesting, and I like the "pay if you like" mentality.

First person adventure game, similar to the point and click genre.
It's pretty story driven, you mostly wander around trying to figure out what in the hell's going on.
Quite fun so far.
Pretty slow paced though, in case that's not your thing.

Go back to the start room and get the big iron bolt from tank 3, give that to the robot that won't let you past to unlock another area

I was quoting the phrase on their site, actually. I agree, this is an awesome time for game design I think. Also, and i'm sure others are the same, but I tend to be a really heavy tipper on games like this (DF too), because it really feels, as you say, like I'm helping make something possible.

EDIT: Judging from videos, gameplay reminds me of an old videogame called Normality.
