Mysterious FPS Drop!

getting around a solid 80 in my smaller embark, been for a good 3 weeks of play, I have lots of resources even.

Then, suddenly, 30-40 FPS. I did dig out a large area of chambers for my dwarves to live in, but I really don't think it'd constitute such a large drop in FPS.

Any thoughts?

Edit: Have deleted alot of stuff, to no avial. Also ran confiscate x destroy

Some ambushes might be lurking around undetected, but they probably wouldn't cause a very big hit.

Was it sudden? It might just be caused by the natural ageing of your Fortress. Still. 30-40 FPS is pretty good in my opinion.  :)   

I have temperature off, helps alot. Does it just naturally go bad like that? Without reason?

Personally at 40 dorfs my FPS drops to like, 10 or so.. before that everything is quick as can be. You said you did some mining before it happened, so perhaps you're reaching the point of where the amount of items in your fort are affecting your FPS

Did you open up the caverns or something?

Check for ambush parties or other hidden visitors around your fort.

When this happened to me I had an FB in an unexplored part of the cavern burning everything, use runesmith to make sure you don't have any uninvited guests.

Post screenshots of your fort's layout. That might help us figure out the cause.
