I just got this on my iPhone. I never played the PC version, but from reading reviews from other users who have, they seem to think it's done very well. The UI is of course filled with tiny clicky spots that I sometimes miss but all in all I think this is BY FAR the best game I have ever played on an iPhone. I know thats not saying much because up until now most games I have played on iPhone have been pretty shallow. My second runner up is Catan, and this is way cooler. Other games I like to play are Strategery and the last few days I have been playing Little Wing. I must say, its really cool to whip out my phone and play a few seasons now and then.

iPhone aside, what a neat game! It's really like nothing else I have ever played. If I were to ever try to make a game, it would be something like this I think, in space, kinda like the Dune universe. Hrmm... someday I might make that (probably not).

It does look really nice but...8 euros? That's quite a bit more expensive then your average iphone game..I think I'll wait a bit for more opinions

They need to make an iPad version. I know in the past they've said that the game art wouldn't match up right with the iPad's screen size, but honestly, who cares. The art is fun, but definitely not necessary for the game to be good. It would stand on it's own just fine as a text based game. Either that or keep the game art at its original resolution, and build the game UI around it instead.

yeah just build a new UI around the art, and keep the art in a smaller box so the rez stays the same.

Oh and yeah, it's pricey but it's the first iPhone game I have seen that plays like a PC game. It's very nice.

Heh, and what you're playing is still pretty shallow compared to the original game. I was rather troubled when I heard how much they cut out for the sake of simplicity (resources, mechanics, some event choices), and recall trying to comment to that effect but failing for some reason.

A sequel of this game would be AWESOME.
Considering that none of the people working there still play or write the Glorantha universe, it's likely that a sequel would be an insult to the original game, even if it wouldn't be as bad being bought by one of the publishing companies who think they can develop too. I think one of the things that gave it such strength of story was the fact that they had a shaman working on the development team, and he kept them thinking of themselves as their own personal Clan Ring, with each of them bringing forth valuable skills, knowledge, and suggestions for the others. I recall there's even a mode you can run the game in that makes it more obvious...

Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

This... game... is one of the best ever in my opinion. It is a real piece of art.

I mean the PC version anyways. The way the stories branch off is great. For example, in most 'situations' you will have maybe 5 choices on how to handle that situation. 1 might be 'fight', 1 might be 'send x gifts' which takes you to the gift giving screen, 1 might be some sort of appeasement, 1 might be ignore the situation. While deciding from these options, your chosen advisers, who are chosen from a pool of nobles with their own personalities and worship preferences, will offer advice for the current situation ranging from useless comments on the weather to terrible advice to good advice. These advisers will occasionally allow you extra dialogue options or situations that are both beneficial or harmful, in addition to a bonus to the operation of your clan. Also there are more deities/types of nobles than there are adviser slots so it's often something to choose carefully.

The artwork is outstanding, the basic premise is outstanding, the story is outstanding, the variety of the game is outstanding, and the auto-save feature enables you to reload the previous months if for example you run into various game ends that are preventable by not doing something you shouldn't have done. The story has enough twists and turns to be interesting even without the randomness that are excellent side-stories, all of which WILL affect your ending.

Finally, the ending scenes that I saw were extremely epic, and I assume that epic-ness is not guaranteed in the final end due to the situations I had found myself in at that time. I still have a screenshot of the final screen somewhere due to how good it is.

If the copyright has expired I have a copy I can upload for free download. If it's still under copyright though I'll have to refuse. If someone can find out for me that would be great.

jsut got the iphone version for it, ohh its so great and i dont not regret paying £7 for it what so ever, i have been playing it for hours now and finding it so very entertaining. one of the few app on the Iphone truly worth getting.

just wondering if anyone else has it what god do you worship over most ?, i mostly go for Humakt cause im a warring tribe :D, also what do hero quests do and how do they benefit you ?, and whats so important about "the making of the storm tribe" quest?

And i see there is Elf's on the game.... always go out my way to kill them and take their land

Barntar the plow god is an absolute must for me, I usually have enough cows to get the job done, but inevitably you need more farmers. Growing enough food to feed the clan is your number one priority.
I think Humakt's morale blessing is the most effective battle blessing, so I might try to set up a shrine for that. Depends how much fighting I expect to do. Issaries is an absolute must though, I try to get a shrine to him then use it to do "market", because it is sooo much better to sacrifice trade goods rather than your cows which will make more cows rather than winding up on the altar.
Then I guess Uralda's "calf blessing" for more cows is always good... And then all the other crop ripening things, Orlanth's "rain", Ernalda's "bless crops", and Elmar's "sun".

And the making of the storm tribe quest is important because it can help you make a tribe/get elected king. Also if your main deity is Orlanth, you get bonuses if you've performed that quest... I think it's extra magic each year, or something.

It provokes one of the few truely game ending events.  Wherein beastfolk come and kill 75% of your pop and like all but 4 potential ring members.

The only thing that kind of irritated me about the game where the quests, because even within the same set of circumstances there is randomness. You can have the same person, with the same number of supporters on the same day try a quest and get different results. Even when you have all the secrets learned, sometimes there's RNG element to the choices you make within the story, that cause you to fail.

This is especially prevalent during the Making of the Storm Tribe and Elmar Guards the Homestead. Don't get me wrong, it was fun and cool. But I think I had to do both of those quests about 30 times a piece with GOOD characters to finally finish them.

And it's not the outcomes of these things are trivial. They can put you in the hole big time for Clan magic, permanently scar your quester or kill them, make it harder to succeed the next time......Yeah. This is one game I immediately started save scumming in.
