i haven't asked the good question: WHY THE HELL DO YOU GUYS WANT PHOTOSYNTHESIS???

Because, unlike hunting for other cells, it is reliable and safe. So if we ever need to hide somewhere and heal up, or can't find or otherwise produce food, we can make food via photosynthesis.

And there's always filter feeding/glue nets for catching small critter later.

reliable and safe... do you know why plants stay on the same place all day instead of toppling wizards' towers?
Because photosynthesis have a so low rentability than you must stop any activity and wait for a bunch of time if you want to grow.
Eating a single mice is worth ten days of photosynthesis.

I agree with kaian on this one.  Reliable and safe=boring!  Stick with being a predator.  Kill!  Kill!  Kill!

To be honest, I think we should go both chloropast and critter nets (For todolist of course) so we have a fallback plan if we can't successfully hunt in this area or that time (this/that used as a generalization until better words/representations are found)

Both would be a form of passive feeding- they don't require any action from you, for the most part.

Actually, plants dont't move because of their rigid cell structure(like fungi, who don't use photosynthesis at all). There is sime kind of sea slug which lives on the glucose produced by the chloroplasts of the plakton, krill, algae(I don't know anymore) it eats. It integrates the chloroplasts into it cell but because it can''t repair/reproduce them it has to keep eating.
Actually, jellyfish are kinda boring, most of the time they just flow along with the stream.

We can't really crystallize... at least all that well.

It isn't actually intelligent either. Also I retract my statement saying that jellyfish are boring. Most of the time they're boring, but not always.
Also, how does this thing move: it's armored, got a cell wall and got no efficient way of moving itself(Just the pseudopseudopods).
The text above is mostly irrelevant.
Anyway, why should we become partially photosynthetic as all it takes is eating some algea and integrating the chloroplasts whitin our cells(sluggs can do it, shouldn't be too hard). Then you can go on killing whatever you like.

I think we should remove the debates for a while and just focus on making our jellyfish better somehow!

Everyone post your idea's and thoughts on how it well the collective (Not so much of a collective) and how it will take away from the collective!

I vote on passive energy benefactors (chloropast/web of death)

Alright, can you try to bold your primary suggestion? That way I can pick them out amongst debates.

Screw light-based vision, we should go with sonar.

Just build a highly sensitive bladder to detect nearby gravitational influences...
