Cells don't eat with mouths, they absorb their prey, put them in little capsules, and digest them with enzymes.

He'll probably absorb us while we're doing that.  He's bigger than us.

That would work if you could get inside without being taken in by endocytosis. When he tries to "eat" you, it would envelop you in a food vacuole. That would be bad. On the other hand, if you developed something that could let you penetrate/close the membrane, it would let you enter/exit a cell without damaging it or letting it retaliate once you were inside.
