Turn 26
Unfortunately, the worm's vision was nearly as bad as yours. 'Course, you could tell that from the fact that its eyes were nearly invisible. Being a burrowing creatures, it must have used its spines to detect pressure changes in the water around them. Scrapping that bit of code, you peruse the other genes, purging those that would be redundant for your use. You squirrel away several of the structural ones- right now, they would probably only complicate your structure. The spikes are retrofitted with toxin channels for delivery of enzymatic poison to the outside through contact with your armor; good thing they are attached to living cells- it lets them heal when injured or be altered without having to dispose of them. Of course, it makes them more vulnerable, but that's the price you pay.
Around you, it is still quite dark. However, you light up at the thoughts of having more thought power! Light... there are many possibilities. Of course, you can't gather any from your environment, but you're sure that there is some way to incorporate it into your structure. Then, of course, there's projectiles.
