Narrow Women?!
« on: August 30, 2011, 06:47:49 pm »

What in Armok are "Narrow Women"?  One of my dwarves likes them for their "macabre ways".

Are they some kind of demon?  Or does it mean elven gals?  That would make her a hippy-lovin' dwarf.   :o

No mods, and just the Mayday tileset.

I think its just a generic nightcreature (moon trolls, night ogres) their names are random. They are hardcoded creatures.
Edit-( You can turn them off in advanced world gen)

In that case yes, night creatures.  Similar to the infamous "backwards freak wife".

As far as I know, night creatures are the only things liked "for their macabre ways."  (I don't know what people who like bogeymen like them for.)

It's an adventurer mode thing.  You won't see them in fortress mode.

I'd really look out for any dwarf who likes night creatures...

I can confirm that bogeymen are liked "for their macabre ways." I had a mason a while ago who liked "horrors of shadow" for the same reason, too.

Got it, thanks guys, just a funny coincidence.

I really thought it might have been a backhanded elf reference.

Actually, I just found where in the save file bogeymen are described, and all of mine have "terror-inspiring antics" for their PREFSTRING.  My non-bogeyman night creatures all have "macabre ways," so they're probably both fixed.

My night creatures are:  horror of the night, night woman, twilight hag, dusk freak, gloom monster, horror of twilight, freaks of evil, twilight woman, blind troll, and shadow hags.  Then I have 9 types of bogeymen (all counted night creatures as well).

Interesting fact: you can also check which types of night creatures
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
your world has from the material selections list in the military equipment screen. If an armor is possible to make out of leather, all leather will be listed there, including any night creatures or demons that leave it.

How does one check this?
