Right, thanks Dwarmin. I might have to be kinda generous with stat-gains to start with, though. :)

Edit: Oh, and as for specialising in pistols or rifles, I was originally going to have them as seperate skills, but I decided that was a bad idea. Perhaps, if you specialize in one or the other, you get a 20% chance to do double damage on a successful, non-critical hit? Whilst losing one point of to-hit bonus when using the non-specialized type of weapon. Thoughts?

Hmm. If you implement called shots, maybe you could have it where the specialized gun gets a bonus? Let's take Tarran/Tarrin, for example. He's using Rifles, so if he wants to shoot a dude in the head he gets a small bonus to his accuracy or damage or whatever. But if all he has on him is a revolver, then if he wants to make a called headshot he has to make do with the same accuracy/damage/whatever the rest of us non-pistol-users have. I'm sure other people have better ideas, this is just off the top of my head. :-\

Hmmmm... If I took 2 skill ups in medical (I can since im the doc), then how much of a bonus would I get?

Plus, we should totally have a tracker of some kind. I was thinking something like a reformed indian. That would be awesome! Someone make one!

TolyK still hasn't made his character yet, maybe he could do that? If not, and some sort of tracking skill is added, I might swap out a point of Sneaking for it. ^^

Awesome. Every cattle run needs a tracker! That just makes sense, y'know?  ;)

Every cattle run needs four types of people to succeed.

-Crotchety old man who throws dynamite
-Angry Irish Priest who kills Indians while making Religious comments and drinking
-Quiet Gunman with pocket watch
-Spanish looking fellow who gets murdered by bandits/ghost/indians while trying to take a nap

Do hispanics count as Spanish? If so, I'm screwed.

I'd say yes.

Don't worry, I'll make your grave nice before you die.

I woke up today thinking arg I need to change my character for various reasons. I can take half my skills in knife fightin' and half in trackin' quite happily. But I'm a reformed Bulgarian, not an Indian. But I hereby volunteer for trackin' duties. As long as I get to keep my damned accordion.

If anyone else wants to do the trackin', well, I wanted to be a carpenter, so will take half knifin' and half tinkerin'.

I'll wait until the skills are finalised.

edit:

-Crotchety old man who throws dynamite

I did think of this as a very first idea...

Arg! Beaten to it edit: I'll be half kniferin' and half tinkerfyin' then.

Well, the reformed Indian is an NPC. :P As for the others, well, go for it!

And now that I'm back, I'll finish off this stuff so we can get started.

To be honest, you really should've thought everything through and finished it before you even started this RTD. I mean, for god's sake, the entire post of the Roller's Block thread is for this kind of stuff. And you were posting about this RTD in there. :-\

Please tell me when you're 100% finalized. I don't want to modify my sheet only to realize the rules weren't finished.

@ Firelordsky: Well, I was looking foward to playing the Indian as my chief NPC... But, you could be the wagoneer!
Your stats are mostly already chosen for you, though: You can have either 2 points in wagoneering and 2 points in yammering, or 2 points in wagoneering, 1 point in yammerin' and 1 point in cooking. :P
The rest is up to you!

As for the rest of you, I believe I'm pretty much ready to start this off... Except Tolyk hasn't posted his character yet. D:
What-- ...But wait, his profile says he was last active a few minutes ago. In fact... He seems to be online this very moment! :D

I just did. He doesn't appear to be online any more though, sadly. :-\
Oh well, I guess it's a chance for people to finalise their characters, and point out any glaring gaps of logic in my rules. Oh and that reminds me, I need to set you up to fill the wagons with stuff, don't I? ;)

You have [3] $300 to spend filling the wagons with whatever supplies you think are needed for the drive. In addition you get $50 to spend on your own equipment.
Also, don't worry yourself about ammunition, as the third wagon (of three) is currently inhabited by Mister Oswald C. Turnhelm, the noted gunsmith of Rocky Gulch, who has had rather enough of Merrick's extortion and is making a break along with you. He'll supply everyone with ammo, but obviously they have to get more bullets from the wagon.

As for horses, you don't just have your [6] 600 head of cattle on this drive, you also have more than enough horses to seat everybody, whether they'll be riding or not. The first wagon is ready to be filled with equipment and supplies, while you dear wife Annie has made the second as comfortable as possible for those along for the trip who will not, or cannot, go on horseback. There's a kettle and a coffee-pot and everything, not to mention a rather unnecessary (in your opinion) amount of kitschy decorations.
