[SPOILER] industry
« on: August 29, 2011, 10:57:15 am »

I was thinking to myself... What would be the most dorfy industry. So the question is, can I butcher clowns? How can I turn a profit from the circus?

It's too bad, but dwarves won't eat them, so the only thing you can make profit with is integrating them in your defence system.

Not sure it is feasible, and if it is, it would be damn hard to lure them without silked traps.

Anyway, good luck with them^^

you can make bone crafts from the ones that have bones.  Not sure about leather, since they're not butcherable.

Would that you could skin non-butcherable things.  Or perhaps have butcherability related to entity tags and civilization moral preferences?  I'm sure that must already be a suggestion on the list for when other civs become playable, or those skills become used in adventure mode.

I guess I'll just have to butcher elves then. (and maybe merpeople.)

mermen and merwomen arent people.  they're humanized fish, and humans aren't people.  only dwarfs are people, and the lesser races are like mobile meat or pets or funny little jesters or something.

Oh how I love when an elven caravan brings me lots of logs just when I need them most. Cutting down elven merchants is so much more satisfying than simply cutting down trees!

Wait, so it's a bad thing when I use suicide tactics?

Wait, I care? Good point me!

Off topic : If I roof over an area that was previously outside, will water in it freeze?

dwarves won't eat them

Er, yes they do - if it's an organic demon, dwarves will butcher it to yield edible meat, renderable fat, and usable bones. Some people have even made demon soap.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
