Studying
« on: August 28, 2011, 12:42:45 pm »

For pretty much all of my school career, I've been able to get A's with basically no effort at all. However, this year, one class (Japanese II), is presenting a problem. I don't seem to learn Japanese nearly as quickly as I learn any other topic, and I'm going to have to study to keep up. I've never actually had to study hard for pretty much anything before, so I was wondering if anyone had any advice/suggestions for quickly memorizing things.

So I'm not alone. All you to do is repeat the word (or whatever) to yourself multiple times while looking at the word; then without looking at the word. How many times is up to you.

I've been the same.
When I have trouble with something, here's what I do:
Read the material several times over, piece by piece.
See if you can remember it all. If not, repeat above.

This is how I study in under five minutes for my weekly "advanced vocabulary" quiz.
Note that this is what works for me. It may not for you.
Repetition is generally the key to remembering, especially for foreign languages.

In foreign languages you have to use it to learn it and not totally despise it *cough*Russian*cough*.

That last gobbo would stand there, missing an arm, punctured in a kidney, liver, and spleen, fading in and out of consciousness at the far end of where the drawbridge would go, and his last sight would be the drawbridge dropping down and smashing him like a bug.

God DAMN I love this game!
