Simply put, it will not do the job, I put the bag in and even over 4 minutes of microwaving the bag doesn't even feel warm.

Our microwave is a Hamilton Beach. And I can't really give anything better than model number- HB-P100N30AL-S3

The popcorn in question was a normal bag of pop-weaver butter flavor. Which expires November of next year. Tried two such bags, neither saw any success what so ever.

I checked power settings for the microwave and as far as I know the power settings are intended to only reduce the applied microwave power.

Sounds like the magnatron might be fried.  How well does it work on anything else?  How long does it take to boil a cup of water?

WTF! Dont put a cup of water in a microwave. If you arent careful, it superheats, and then when you try and take it out it will overboil all over your hand

Just put a spoon in the water and you'll be all right (using a plastic spoon of course, though metal spoons should not give a problem as the cup will help the charge to ground out)

It works perfectly on everything else we've tried. In fact, much better than our previous microwave.

That's......bizarre. Have you tried stuff since the popcorn? Because there's no logical reason why other stuff heats fine and that does not.

...You do know that's a double negative you just said right?  Grammar Nazism aside, I really can't think of anything.  I don't know enough about how microwaves work.  My advice, contact the company that made it, or someone who either knows mechanics, microwaves, or both.

I'm usually good about that, I guess I'm just incredibly frustrated at the fact that a microwave I got early this month didn't even last long enough to see the next.

Sounds like maybe you've got some loose wiring or a bad connection somewhere.

Are you using presets on the microwave, or just setting a timer? Maybe some of those presets aren't working right, if you're using them.

Try to confirm whether or not the microwave in general works. Try to boil a ceramic mug full of water, or something like that, and see how long it takes.

Make sure it's not in "pizza" or "crisp" mode or something like that.

Just make popcorn on the stove-top. Much cheaper & healthier!
