Hurricane gaming
« on: August 27, 2011, 10:16:26 am »

So I am in the swath of Hurricane Irene and will most likely going to be without power for a few days so I have my EEE netbook charged up which will give me 6-7 hours of gaming before quitting. Obviously I have Cataclysm on it, but is there another non-demanding game I should put on?

Luckily I have 2 kindles which have enough battery power to last me 2 months into the apocalypse :)

This is what I have the Geneforge series on here for, but you have to either buy or find that (and something else if you just find it too)

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I booted up my DS and started my Pokemon Black copy.  Filling out my Pokedex is a good time waster.

Get with other people and play board games. All you need is light.

Any video game prior to 2001 is going to be low demand. If you have a Nintendo DS or can get one, there's a DOS emulator for it. That's 10 hours of battery right there.

Ooh, that could be fun. Does it work with most DOS stuff?

Another good one is Doom 2. I've had a lot of fun playing that on my netbook.

Tons

I'd also recommend Powder and Dungeon Crawl for DS.

I'm no where near the east coast and don't need to worry about anything. Beyond that I can go a few days without power, I have books.

Hurricane Gaming sounds like an impressive name for a game server provider.
If you can find internet somehow, Space station 13 ran when I had a netbook.

Power outage and a raging hurricane sounds like the perfect time to play Penumbra or Amnesia, or perhaps Undying. That would require a decent gaming laptop and like a few spare batteries though.

I think there are batteries or generators you could use to keep a modem alive. Though I'm sure you'd use a generator to power more important stuff.

And it won't help you if your ISP has lost power too.

Pretty much what will kill all online attempts at gaming.

I'm taking this chance to reformat my hard drive. Probably not a good time if the power can go out at an moment, but forecasts say my area won't be hit too bad despite being in the firing line of every arm.

 We shall see.
