Combining them is a complicated process involving editing badly formatted .txt files. I would reccomend sticking with one or the other for a while!

Hopefully before long we will have weapons far better than nukes.

Nice, first major race you get is the Ithkul. For anyone who doesn't know, they are setup to be powerful in combat and they are at war with everyone always and forever.

On the starmap... I remember hearing it was an abstraction of 3d, likey the took a 3d map and flattened it down. Stars can appear right next to eachother on the x/y axsis, but they are actually very distant on the z axsis. Hence starts that are actually close together have lines between them. Either way I liked the star lines idea, until you end up with a line between two systems that goes on for 8 screends. That annoyed the hell out of me.

I played a lot of MOO3 vanilla. I hated it at first too. It dropped many things that made MOO2 awesome and had many issues. The trick is knowing how to play it and accepting that it is different. You just simply have less control over everything in 3. In some games I didn't even get the point defense tech. It is worth a play, just don't expect a true MOO2 sequel.

The first time you get a task force with a picket ring, I'd like to be put in charge of it.

Turn 43:

Before being returned to the reserves where it will await redeployment into a fleet to invade the Harvester home system, scout Beta sent back the following survey data of Phecda. No hospitable worlds here for us.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The year ended with Sheb reporting a sensor contact in the Desmos system. He was ordered to hold a distance away from the contact, which he identified as a Gogannm vessel of unorthadox construction. The ship, if it can be called that, appeared to be hewn almost entireley from some kind of silicon based crystal. Various parts of this crystal could be identified as engines, so our engineers hypothesised that the ship is "grown" as a single unit and preprogrammed in some way - possibly even a sentient organsim. Worryingly this ship closed with Sheb, and then totally dropped off sensor contact. The drone Sheb dispatched to track down the ship was picked off with ease by a laser weapon. This laser weapon is of lower power than our state of the art lasers, but outmatched the obsolete designs on Shebs aging scout. I saw no point in wasting a valuable pilot earmarked for leading our invasion of Sadalbari, so Sheb Jumped out of Desmos to resume picket duty one system closer to Sol.

Showing screenshots of an empty sector would be pointless so I am not including them.

Turn 44

Combat engineers report the completion of an impressive new infantry weapon: the Needle Gun

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

In essence, it is not too different from a traditional assault rifle. A magazine or belt feeds rounds into a chamber where a chemical propellant fires off a round. The main differences are in the ammunition - instead of the usual cm scale round, flechette rounds of mm scale are fired at hypersonic velocities. The nature of the projectile makes rifling of a barrel impractical, harming the weapons accuracy, but this is more than compensated by its lethality, high rate of fire and low recoil.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Sheb is returned to the reserves, ready to take control of the first of our attack armadas. A small squadron of mass drrver cutters is sent to deal with the incursion by the Gogannm.

The Zedovariri sent us a message:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Its not as if we even intend to trade with them.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The Bulrathi have followed the example set by the Brye Ehts and become full members of the Federation. The Military staff working at our outpost there have taken to calling thier world Kodiak due to the Bear like appearance of the Bulrathii, and this name appears to have stuck. The Bulrathii themselves seem not to be bothered by this. As with the Brye Ehts, worlds suitable for Bulrathii physiology have been marked out for eventual colonization. Anywhere would be better than thier resource poor and barren homeworld.

The Zedovariri message is quite hilarious considering you want to kill them all.

I dont know if its canon, but the  Zedovariri sound like a typical bad guy alien race going "I dont understand why they want to kill us, we just butchered all of them we have met. Damn it, as punishment for them, we wont let them have our glorious presence."

Turn 45

Whilst this statement doesnt come as a suprise, the manner in which it is expressed does...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I have no idea who these "hated enemies" are supposed to be. I am also at a loss as to why they consider us respectable. Neither point is relevant though - the Harvesters have decided to formally declare thier desire to eat us all.

The Bulrathii are taking to interstellar colonization ar more enthusiastically than the Brye Ehts. 3 of thier outposts have sprung up in opposite ends of our controlled systems. Hopefully they will grow into full colonies shortly.

2 more worlds have been granted Colony status.

Cerapa 2 - a world with no distinguishing features save for it being the home of the first Brey Ehts to leave thier homeworld. Letting them name it "Planet 2" might have been a mistake.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Cerapa 3 - an unpleasant methane world which the Brey Ehts are calling "Planet 3".
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Turn 46

There is some minor unrest in the Laan system due to pirate activity (it seems the heavily populated yet undedeveloped worlds of our non human members have the ability attract an unsavoury crowd). Extra funds have been diverted to finish an anti-piracy cutter as soon as possible, as well as to beef up our governmental presence on worlds there.

The Bulrathii have set up another 3 outposts acorss our systems. They are to be applauded for the efforts they are making to bring more worlds under our control. The Brye Ehts were stirred into setting up one more of thier own within the Sol system. If it were not for the continuing fascination our Scientists seem to display with them I would have got bored of them a long time ago.

Turn 47

An alien refugee has approached us with an offer we can not refuse...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Whilst the pollution hit is not pleasant, we simply need the minerals to feed the production of fleets to eliminate the Harvesters.

Our labs report that the deep extraction mining will be soon availiable. This will coincide with our first feasable shielding technolgies, meaning production of our first invasion craft will not suffer from the mineral shortages we are currently tolerating.

Our task force arrived at Desmos to investigate the Gogannm ship. A salvo of Mass driver fire convinced it to withdraw, returning the system to our control. The task force will remain there to protect against further incursions.

Nah, the behaviour of the Harvesters is directly down to thier racial traits. They have a high "revulsion" so anyone encountering them starts off with very poor relationships. These get worse very quickly as the Harvesters have little or no diplomatic skills at all.

Turn 48

The first of our covert operatives is ready. EUCHREJACK has been given the callsign "Stantz". He is en route to Sadlbari as we speak, with orders to find enemy technologies in advance of our own and to steal them, and if none can be found, to sabotage thier scientific work in order to prevent them developing any.

Turn 49

3 more worlds have joined the Federation.

The Brye Ehts have populated Cerapa 4 in the Sol System, a cool world with the soupy atmosphere they seem to enjoy. This world is capable of synthesizing more nutrients than the Brye Ehts could ever need, but it lacks any mineral wealth.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The Bulrathii have populated Lodestone, a terrestrial body in the Kaffa-C system. This mineral rich world could be a very useful forward base in our war against the Harvesters.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Our hardy Bear-like pioneers have also inhabited Glacier, an arctic body in the Laan system. There is little here of note.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The Gogannm have probed our borders again... a ship identical to the one seen off at Desmos drove our scout away from Indu San.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The Mass Driver Cutter squadron is en route to take care of this pasky annoyance.

This looks like a intresting LP even through I never played this game but I figure that enough nukes can kill anything.

Well I would think that said combined edited badly formatted txt files would already exist in someones possession. Any chance of getting you to host it?

Also, dibs on name rights for a random Bulrathii planet sometime in the future.

Turn 49 Continued...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Tracking stations in Biot picked up a sesnor signal heading in-system. We suspected that this was another one of those annoying probes from an as of yet unknown race.

The systems 2 Anti-Piracy cutters were dispatched to investigate... and what we found was alarming. A single ship travelling incredibly slowly, hundreds of times larger than our own. As it passed into sensor range, it launched a small number of fighters wich raced at out cutters with accelerations simply beyond what we are capable of. Despite this, the commander of the cutters felt confident that over 50 fighters against 10 could only end one way. He was wrong - these fighters had shields that totally resisted our fighter based laser cannons, and returned fire with an energy beam of some type that tore our interceptors to shreds.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
A few of our fighters reched the enemy Behemoth, where thier weapons proved to be equally ineffective - a powewrful shiled around the craft absorbed every single photon from the fighters laser cannons. Seconds later it was over - the enemy fighters picked off the last few of our interceptors, then turned to our cutters

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Thier hulls withered under the power of the alien energy beam. The battle in space over, the enemy fighter wings then bombed NRDL - fortunatley 10 fighters arent capable of much damage.

The only conclusion that we can come up with is that this ship belongs to some race far older and powerful than our own. They have made no effort to contact us, and we must consider them dangerous until we know more. No actions that could be percived as hostile will be taken towards thier ships, particularly the one in orbit above NRDL, to avoid a futile waste of ships. Ground forces are being drawn up on NRDL to protect against the possible threat of invasion. The only positive outcome from this situation is that data obtained from the energy signature of the shielding system used by the alien craft has allowed our own shielding technology to be finished - our engineers are currently drawing up a second generation of warships based on the cutter hull.

Turn 50

Apologies for some slightly messed up screenshots in this update. Only noticed once I had uploaded them and didnt have the motivation to go take them again...

EuchreJack (callsign "Stantz") has been slain by the Harvesters. I was hoping for at least some technologies to be returned before such an unpleasnat end for him. At least they didnt harvest him.

The Bulrathii have brought another world under our control - Fahd II will now be known as Endymion.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Whilst capable of supporting a vast population despite a crushing atmospheric pressure, there is little in the way of minerals or farmable land here. The Bulrathii just love to hunt the wide variety of gas giant fauna though - harpooning the "floaters" is a joy to them. Our scientists prefer to study them for their unique physiology while alive.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The Gogannm have set up an outpost in the Sukra system. They have not responded to any attempts to contact them, and we will take this world from them by force of arms if the Gogannm can set up a sustainable colony here - a race capable of living on such volcainc worlds should prove useful to us.

Our engineers have finished the designs for the second generation of warships based on the cutter platform. Schematics and notes are included below. The military has requested the ships to be given a callsign - this is how they will be known in all future log enteries.

Javelin Laser Cutter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Faster than its predecessor due to a new FTL engine and an updated in system thruster. Deadlier than its predecessor thanks to larger, more powerful and longer range lasers. Better defended than earlier ships due to its uprated armour and new shield system. I am pleased with this design - it represents a very capable mid to long range attack craft.

Mace Mass Driver Cutter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Watching a demonstration of the main armament to be fitted to this class was very impressive. Twin rapid fire mass drivers - these should shred through all but the heaviest armours. As fast and well defended as the Javelin. A capable close range ship which should also have impressive point defense capability.

Longbow Missile Cutter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Removing the Mass drivers from a Mace and adding missile racks has allowed for a terrifyingly powerful ship - unfortunatley such firepower does not come cheap. These assets will need to be carefully looked after.

Lance Carrier Cutter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The standard second generation cutter hull carrying 6 light fighters. For these to be as effective in combat as possible they will need to be fielded in large numbers to allow for the largest swarm of fighters possible.

Buckler Point Defense Cutter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Fitted with rapid fire short range laser cannons - capable of picking off a number of targets with apparent ease. A very capable escort craft. Should prove useful when twinned with the Mace.

Pinnace Recon Cutter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The eyes and ears of our future fleets. One should be present in all combat formations. Asmall number of point defense weapons were added in what space was left after its hull space was crammed with sesor and electronic warfare gear.

Huey Troop Transport Cutter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Just like the in atmosphere troop transporter from ages past, the Huey was named by the troops that rode in it on its test flight. It has minimal weaponary as its hull space is devoted to troop transport space.

Ballista System Defense Cutter
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
A longbow missile ship turned up to 11. No FTL engines means more missiles.

Keep Orbital Missile Base
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Enough missiles to dent even the largest of fleets - a useful last line of defense.
