The merchant eventually made it out of the statue garden.  Moving very slowly.  Probably admiring something.  Once he made it out of the level he was on, he walked normally.  Proceded to leave the fort and get to the edge of the map.  On the way to the edge of the map, he went mad.  THe mad merchant managed to get to the edge of the map anyways, but decided he didn't want all his clothes on and chucked some stuff.  He then went back into my fortress, removed more clothing, then left the map.  He told me he was angry.

haha... man.  This why I love this game.

Just wanted to add that I'd bought 2 steel helms, one decorated one not, both of them were ignored.  My game didn't get as far as them disappearing though

I've fixed the unrecognized armor problem for the next version now.
