This is a repeatable bug caused by trading with dwarven traders.

Note:
1) I tried to sell all finished goods bins and several other things and buy some leather, all meat and all cheese in exchange.
2) My save file can be downloaded from link: http://mihd.net/3n4fpa
3) It is just before fatal trade that causes Apocalypse
4) I play under Windows XP Home SP2
5) I don't think this is an issue here, but liason is dead from several seasons and no other ever came.
6) Ah, I almost forgot: I use current (v0.27.169.33c) version of DF.

I have some of the same things happen to me, as well.  The thing is that I can never replicate what happens, and it seems to only happen after I try finishing a trade, and the merchants accuse me of selling stolen merchandise ("I can't fathom how you got goods like these", or something), and then I exit and try trading it again.  It usually works just fine after I load a recent save, though.  I'll just blame it on the elves, for now...

Okay, I've downloaded it.  Hopefully it will reproduce the trade crash and it can finally be fixed.

I was able to bypass the bug by selling fewer items then before. Maybe this will help in debugging.

Okay, it has been fixed for the next version.  I can't say that's the last of the trade crashes, but this had a potential of causing problems any time there was a large trade and the merchant was thinking about a counter offer.

I've had another trade crash which I've managed to reproduce... I'm not going to upload this second, because it's a half hour play I'm not in a hurry to do again but it revolves around making incremental increases in the offer.

Also, would you consider changing the traders "superior proposals" to something slightly less outrageous? They'll trade for an awful lot less and they're still getting a significantly better bargain at low skill levels, so I always find myself undoing practically everything they add which can get annoying.

[Edit: I'll save a copy of the crash and try it with the next version when it is released, just in case it is crashing for the same reason]
