Walling Yourself into a Corner
« on: November 01, 2007, 12:05:00 am »

Dwarfs...are retards.  I try to build a wall to encase a section that should never be entered as it will have water in it (yay, pumps) and don't want the water flowing out either, so I build a wall.

The dwarf WALLS HIMSELF IN.

I desconstruct the wall, designate the inside as RESTRICTED, rebuild the wall.

The dwarf walls himself in, AGAIN.

wtf.

Dwarves walling themselves in cause me to build multiple ramps - one for each end of the wall.  Sometimes I have to build a ramp especially for baby.

Yeah, this happened to me early on.  Restricting traffic over a tile doesn't restrict a dwarf using the tile to position himself to construct something... just to path over en route to something.  It'd be nice if the dwarf treated the restricted tile as completely impassable, or solid rock, in these situations to prevent accidents.

Dwarfs love to paint themselves into corners like that.

Best way to avoid that is to either suspend constructions so they can't wall themselves in, or designate only "safe" place after safe place.

Designate "safe" place?
