I quit after having played and grinded for about 3 years straight.

Ok, I can understand playing a fun game for 3 years, getting tired of it and quitting because you've played it for 3 years, but when you play a mediocre or terrible game for 3 years and can straightfacedly say "It's bad", then give a list of reasons why it's terrible, you are a fool.

It was fun. It stopped being fun after about 2 years, but the habit of playing as well as the immediate community I surrounded myself in kept me in. It being wurm, there is no real scripted endgame, so we had to invent our own. We built the biggest city, tamed the most dangerous creatures and amassed the most valuable and rare items. That's what the other 2 years went with.

But yeah, I agree and I do regret spending as much time in the game as I did. I don't regret spending time with the people I did, however, not until the very end.

I have a theory.
It was probably your grammar and your name, drpoo, yeah I'm sure they took you to be a completely mature and sensable person based on that alone and not some 12 year old who thinks poo is funny.

that said, wurm does suck.
I have a theory, you dont read any of my other posts. And you jugde my intelligence, and you attempt to guess my age, solely based on one thread i have been participating in.
But i might have misread, and i dont know right now.

It's funny how he uses your grammar as an argument while showing no sign of mastery on that subject, himself  ;)

Guys, let's not be assholes. We're better than that.

I really ought to stop backseat modding like this, but we're developing habits as a community that I'd really rather not see grow into standards.
Well said!

Wurm mods have never done anything for anyone who doesn't line their pockets anyway. I tested this by breaking all the rules as a paying player and my friend who was a freeplayer reported me for them. He got IP-banned for wasting their time.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.  The obvious solution is to chain the baby up at the entrance as a kobold detector.

that was a luky dwarf. I had one dabbling surgeon fail so spectacularly that the patient skull flew a tile away from the table.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Played Wurm for roughly a year.  Was mayor or a relatively little known DF town on JK Home called Onoldeler (after about a month I was the last DFer left in the town, which was the only reason I became mayor)  Had a reasonably high skill paid char with 75 mining skill, 40 two handed sword and fighting skill.  Yea it was grindy, but it was more of a game you played while playing something like DF in the background.

It was pretty much just the folks I was in the village with that kept me around for the last few months.  Once I had to leave the town for days at a time to mine ore on wild server and import it(you couldn't get ore of higher quality than 70 on home server) I lost interest quickly.

I tried to come back again about a year after that hoping to play for a bit at 20 capped free2play skills to see if I could rekindle my interest, to find that JKHome had ceased to exist or something to that effect and that my char was automatically transferred to wild server.  On wild server if I wanted to log in I had to pay for a month of game time.

Also according to what I read on the subject it placed me in some location that I had heard of, but never been, so even if I did pay to log in, I would be completely lost, and have no idea how to reach my likely completely defunct and scavenged wildmine, which was the last thing I had to my name except for the few things I had logged out carrying, which I knew didn't include food, water, or any of my tools to easily get food or water, because I had last logged out at my house.   So I said fuck this and never touched it again.

The game is unique, but it seemed very mismanaged when I played, and if you have nobody to talk to the game gets boring fast.
