Riddle me this?
« on: August 25, 2011, 03:59:12 pm »

The game is simple: Answer the riddle, then write one of your own (even if your answer might not be right!). Answering a riddle correctly gives you a point, and points will be tracked in the opening post (the riddle giver OR general consensus can declare an answer correct)

Try not to write riddles that people can just look up, folks!

I'll start:

Number 1:
Would that my skin were steel, would that my skin were glass,
Would that I could be as deadly when loosed to those that handle me as I am when fast to their enemies
Would that my voice were thunder, my tongue fire, and my breath death
But alas, for all that I am but a nickel too poor, and thus can only speak of truth

Plutonium, I think, with the difference being between 244 and 239 isotopes, one being useful for mostly dating stuff, while the other is a fissile material.

Okay, no one's got it yet, but that's fine, no one needs to! Just throw your own in the pile as well so people can get /something/ even if mine is terrible. :P

I'll throw another one out there for now:

Number 2:
My life is limitless so long as I sleep
When I wake, I drink of myself to fuel my purpose
And while I serve that purpose, I weep, until I can weep no more, and then I die.

Also, I would totally love to see some of the justifications you people come up with for those answers. :P
(If it's good enough, heck, I'll probably give it to you! I like Strife's answer the best so far.)

The first one: A gun with a nickel shoved into the firing mechanism.

The second one: Water bears.

The second is a wax candle.

I was thinking gyser for the second one, but Draignean is almost certainly right.

Here's an easy one:

I dance in the day, though I fear the sun
I hide behind you, at night we are one.
A small candle's flame, gives both death and life
And I'll stick to you, like man to his wife.

I did say it was easy, but 26 seconds easy?  Someone's on top of things.

Alright, a little harder this time:

I whistle a tune without any words
Though you can't mistake my call for a bird's
And like a clock, I'm always on time
Not early or late will you hear my chime

Also, I'm going to go with age/experience for Barbarossa

Good timing, I suppose.  :P Speaking of which, is the answer for that one a metronome?

Age/experience is close, but those without experience tend to want it.

Depends on the experience.  And no, not a metronome.

How about viral immunities gained through having contracted a particular disease?  :P
