But you don't know how damaged they are, that's the pretty thing of it. You could play dead, and await the invading boarders with guns drawn.
Giving em a good hammering first is necessary. Also: don't repair a wall/engine while still under attack from that side, the explosions will kill you. Same goes for reviving/healing engy's who did not listen to the previous advice.

The first couple of games I played were very short, like 2 minutes. I know it is (very) early beta, but I am disappointed about being stuck in the hull of the boat. I'd like to be able to get up on top and climb up the masts and junk.

Also, guns do work strangely. It is really hard to tell when you are shooting or where your shots are hitting.

No masts, I've clipped out of the ships and seen the designs. They're more like mussel shells with the cannons arranged between the lips.

No masts, I've clipped out of the ships and seen the designs. They're more like mussel shells with the cannons arranged between the lips.
If you're going to have ship combat, at least have the whole ship  ::) ???

But the ship is 'woodpunk' whatever that means. I'm sure it's within artistic license to have ships that are made of wood and spew deadly gas when ruptured while looking like clams.

They're spaceships, and are equipped with rocket engines, so no solar-sails needed.

You can't climb on the masts and stuff because the ships aren't actually ships.  During spectator mode you can climb out the window.  The ships are basically big boxes with windows, sitting next to each other, and a model that represents the enemy ship floats around in a position corresponding to the enemy ship's relative position.

It would be cool if the ships were actually moving around full of people but that would be pretty hard to do.

I think so. We both hadn't any crew members so shooting your boat into oblivion didn't brought me any advantage.   ???

Next time you clip out as a spectator, go down towards the ring on the green area of "ground" below, and there are two miniature-scale models of the ships that maneuver and even shoot at each other.
