Put the bag on your head, grab a weapon at random and search the room blind but still with a ridiculously large magnifying glass.

HMR stands for Hazardous Materials Requisition, not Horrible Massive Ruination, though I can understand how one could get confused.

I thoroughly approve of this idea.

In the spirit of RTD, I will roll a dice to decide my approval of this! [6] Uh... I approve of it so much it take up two slots? I dunno, I wasn't expecting a 6 D=

[1] Realizing that solving this mystery is impossible without your trusty hat, you vigorously search through the bag to find it!
[2] Dust all the weapons for prints
[3] Put the bag on your head, grab a weapon at random and search the room blind but still with a ridiculously large magnifying glass.
[4] Loot loot loot
[5] Grab ye weapon rack and wield it as a weapon.
[6] Grab ye weapon rack and wield it as a weapon.

[3] Realizing he cannot work with an exposed head, our professional Dick puts the bag on his head. Splendid! Now he can finally look around for evidence!

First, he examines the weapon rack with a huge magnifier that he pulls out of his hat.
Solid wood, 20th century obviously, as shown by the perfect symmetry of the thing. No man can work this precisely, so it must have been machine-made.
Also, the "Made in Germany"stamp is a dead giveaway.
It appears to be empty, so Zoosmell decides to equip it instead.

That being done, our protagonist begins to examine every nook and cranny inside the room. The dim lighting makes it a little harder than it needs be, but what fun would it be without a challenge?
The doors appear to be locked from the outside, no way out there for now.

Maybe inside the... AHA! There is a lever hidden behind a loose brick in the alcove!

Should he pull it? Or is it going to activate an instant-death trap? Are you going to tell him to pull it anyway? Is there going to be cake?
