Roll To Decide on a Plot: BOSS FIGHT?!
« on: August 23, 2011, 02:06:55 pm »

So basically, this isn't quite dissimilar to SC's RTASL.

Except it isn't. Basically, We're going to tell a story. Every turn, I'm going to advance the story, and then you are going to make suggestions. I am then going to pick the six first/most popular/most interesting/whatever suggestions, and then allocate them to a number from 1 to 6.
I then roll a d6 and whatever number comes up gets chosen. You are allowed to second other proposals and withdraw yours, so any suggestion that has been repeated a few times has a higher chance of getting picked.

Example situation:

Our heroine is standing in a tunnel. Behind her is the exit, where she came from, in front of her is a hole in the floor, blocking her way to the other side.
In her inventory she only has a rope and a lantern.

The following would be the suggestions:

[1]: Jump down the hole.
[2]: Tie the rope into a lasso and throw it over a stalagmite. Then cross over the hole.
[3]: Head back outside, maybe she has missed something.
[4]: Jump into the pit.
[5]: Tie the rope to a stalagmite, then use it to climb down the hole.
[6]: Suddenly, cave-in!

I'd then roll...a [5] and write the following:

Deciding that the hole might contain a secret, our heroine securely ties her rope onto a thin but stable stalagmite. She then carefully, but steadily descends into the darkness. A few dozen metres below, she eventually reaches the bottom of the pit.Upon examination she finds a few rocks, a small hole in the wall, just about large enough to crawl in, and a pick that somebody must have dropped.

What will happen now?

This game is free for all, so no need to in or have a regular attendance to participate.

First things first, but not necessarily in that order:

What setting shall the story take place?

Fantasy universe in which an evil force has opened a gigantic portal into the Midwest United States around a week ago.

1 foot tall aliens with no arms, only 2 metre long claws are pouring from a small abandoned shack in Cornwall in modern day Britain. Due to the government disappearing days into the invasion, the civilian populance is left to fend for themselves.

Two meter long claws you say? (Surprisingly hard to find a pic of a meterstick that shows how long it is in comparison to things.)

For added hilarity, the aliens are only a foot tall.

Space Opera set in the 5th millenium.

Also, this is a great idea.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Two meter long claws you say? (Surprisingly hard to find a pic of a meterstick that shows how long it is in comparison to things.)

Awesome picture.

On the Orient Express headed for Turkey pursued by enraged pipe-smoking Belgian detectives.

Edit: I am for the moment withdrawing my previous suggestion.

I will suggest  an average person caught in a war between monumental powers, (Example. Angels v Demons, AMerica v the EU something like that)

You really can both sig it.
But... That would break the laws of sigging! We can't have everyone running around with the same quotes. IT MAKES THEM UNFUNNY FASTER!

Our adventurer awakens inside a medium sized room.
The walls are cobbled out of stone, and the candles on the walls provide dim light.
Carefully, our hero stands up. He
has a slight feeling of déjà-vu. Has he been here before? Or she?
(S)He has suffered a head trauma, and has problems remembering who (s)he is. Or maybe even it.
Please help him/her/it remember who (s)he/it is.

Who am I? What am I? What is my purpose in life?
