Dwarven baby ghosts and their parents
« on: August 23, 2011, 10:56:48 am »

I recently had a water accident in which a baby drowned. When the baby came back as as a ghost, I ddn't pay mmuch attention. I just found my mechanic, who was the mother of the baby, carrying the ghost around. Just as if it was alive.

Maybe if you drown the mother you can kill the baby twice?

The mechanic had another son. Guess someone's gonna grow up with a ghostly brother.

I recently had a water accident in which a baby drowned. When the baby came back as as a ghost, I ddn't pay mmuch attention. I just found my mechanic, who was the mother of the baby, carrying the ghost around. Just as if it was alive.

A while ago a mother fell into the freshly melted/thawed river. The mother got out, the baby she was carrying didn't. Drowned. Came back to haunt later so I had a slab made. Because my engraver is legendary it was finished in no time at all and placed quite quickly, too. After the ghost was put to rest I got a message that the mother was looking for her child, which was, as the Fuzzyzergling mentioned, quite creepysad. :(

The mother had another child, though, a second daughter. All of them have coffins in the same room and the mother is going to be my baroness. (Because I liked her name, I forgot it was her.)

This made me tear up a little.

Wow that's bizarre.

Keep it around and see what happens when it grows to become a ghostly child (yes, that happens). Does it follow its mother around like normal kids?

Keep it, definitely, but I do suggest doing a little extra for the parents, because I imagine haunting doesn't help their mood much.

Find a way to weaponize it.
Allow it to grow, and see if the next stage of growth actually causes it to be considered part of the Fortress.
