Dwarf interrupted by sturgeon, pike, (carp?) etc, and th
« on: November 27, 2007, 10:46:00 am »

I thought this was already a known bug, but I couldn't find a bug thread for it with the search feature, or find it on the list of known bugs.

Anyways, I just lost my second dwarf to a sturgeon, and I lost a precious pick or axe from the first guy. This time I was quick enough to zoom to him after he was interrupted and before he died, and found that he was in the river!

He was badly injuried, missing many limbs, and drowning right next to the sturgeon in question:

The question is, how the hell did he end up in the river? Did he jump in to wrestle it? Did the fish somehow pull him in?

The fish are quite deadly =/

Do not, I repeat, do NOT go near the river!

The carp in my river are quite peaceful

Sturgeon, however, are apparently bloodthirsty murderers.

I've made the tiles bordering the river restricted but they will still rip apart war dogs that get too close.

The dwarf probably charged the fish and jumped in the river. Or dodged into it.

Either way, I killed the bastards by draining the "major" river into a deep pit, and then damming it with floodgates. All but the first 7 columns of the river are empty now.

I wonder if this would affect the river outside this map, if I abandoned the fort.

If it's the only river fueling an ocean, you might actualy be able to drain it.
