Like I'm basically waiting for the next release. Not that I hate cities for some weird reason.

I have a kind of similar thing going on. I burned out after playing quite a lot, but I still find myself reading the news on the updates, because dorfs vs zombies.

Yep, I too am stuck in waiting-for-next-version-limbo.  Too much cool stuff on the horizon.  It is particularly bad this time around since pretty much all the new stuff will require a fresh worldgen, so I don't really feel like bothering with anything I can make now.

I've fooled around with bees, but I haven't had a serious fort in a while.

I've still been playing, but not nearly as much. Somewhat distracted by everything else I'm doing. Once the release hits, I'll probably refocus on DF for a while, though.

I haven't played as much since then. This string of releases has, indeed, been rather dull. This next one is the gigantic push that DF needed. When I saw the diagrams of the cities, my jaw dropped. I was disappointed when Toady said he was working on undead and all that; I just wanted the cities at that point. Undead et cetera are shaping up quite nicely, despite my original thoughts.

Next release should be epic. I'm sort of in hibernation until then.

I go through periods of playing df. I don't really play fortress mode, but I do love adventure mode, so I tend to play that and extend my playtime through the use of mods. Eventually though, there's only so much to do in adventure mode right now, so you get burnt out on it. I keep coming back though, and this new release offers a whole new level of interesting shenanigans.

If I can somehow make it so that I can butcher sentient creatures in adventure mode, I will so totally wipe out a city with an army of hollow skins.

I play from time to time. And no, I will not start right away with new release. It will be extremely buggy and in unplayable state (not to mention incompatibile Dwarf The Rapist) for a month or longer. It makes no sense to wait. Just play.
