So yes, trying to paint the Minecraft community as immature and entitled is completely ridiculous when a thread about Toady being in the NYT can't even be a gleaming mirror of the community's supposed superior nature.

I wasn't saying we're superior. Don't put words in my mouth.

It's not a matter of the fact that Minecraft's userbase is stupid, it's just that it's large and a large fraction of it's fans are juvenile, both mentally and physically. I'm speaking from experience here (still in school) and I can assure you that the computer room is filled with younger students playing pirated copies (yes, I checked) of a year old build.

I actually left when this change in balance happened because I was annoyed by the "OMG WHEN IS THIZ MOD GUNNA BE UPDTD:P LOL!" comments and the excessive use of ancient memes by people who had discovered KnowYourMeme and thought it was the way to be cool.

Notch himself appears to have run out of steam. If I can remember correctly, and I can, the Halloween update was the first long wait we had to endure before an update and the first one we actually anticipated. Before then it was "Here's what I did, enjoy." or "I did this, this, this and something else, go find it." I miss this old approach.

(Qualifying statement plus other side, time ran out.)

I have a ten-foot-pole I use to steer around things like this. It wasn't long enough, I think, so I have ordered a twelve-foot-pole.
It's a very small company, so you'll have to procure your own.

Now that I am here, I am leaving. It seems a sane thing to do.

(Really, guys and dolls, we can be far more productive/crazy elsewhere. I am aware that beating dead horses is fun, but I have never figured out why. I'm kinda new here, but isn't this horse a skeleton?)

I'm glad to get new points of views on this but... I don't really plan on keeping this debate up for long. I just don't know how I should wrap it up.

You COULD say you are re sorry you were a dick, that might help.

It's a museum housing the bones of an ancient proto-horse that was beaten to death many millions of years ago. We are currently flooding the building with magma.

Very good. All is understanded. I shall buy a longer pole and beat said bones of the proto-horse merrily. While singing 'diggy diggy hole'. I think I need a pie. Or cake. (Another thing I wont touch with a fourteen-foot-pole. Have them both.)

I'm new here (Urist McObviousStater) so I can't say anything about here, but I've been on the Minecraft Forums for a bit and God are the majority of them utterly impatient. Add in incompetent mods (they funnel every update topic into one thread making a complete mess of spam and 12 different deep discussions and adding a person as a mod who feels he has to type in 72pt red text because he can't win an argument) and you have one big mess.

As indie games go, a game that had a comparable reduced-pay for pre-release system was Mount&Blade, and that had updates on a yearly basis at best. They never could have survived something like that, so their reputation is duly earned.

Well, everyone has the right to say his opinion. And since were in the Internet there will always be Folks who think your OPINION is wrong (which is stupid in itself). After reading your Blog tough i have to agree with some of my foreposters, complaining about the Healthmeter being Hearts or naming his new Game "Scrolls" seems too nitpicky for me, but again its your good right to state your opinion about it.

Some of my favorite Games wouldnt be as much fun if they didnt borrow from some older Games. I dont care as long as the game itself is well made.

You can just let your Blog stand as it is, state that all you wrote is your opinion. If People still bang about it you can either argument with them as you did with hay, or ignore it. Noone forces you to answer or even justify your opinion. But you WILL have to deal with the Fact that some ppl will still flame about it, and thats the risk you gotta take if you write or say what you think.

Arguing over games is pointless. It's about as pointless as arguing over favorite foods - what do you expect to achieve, convince someone that <food/game/band> is actually better than <other item of respective category>? And I'm very surprised about this argument actually getting somewhere, seeing that the entire first page apart from the OP was criticizing such pointless, silly, utterly useless debates.

I am disappointed...

DF is a awesome deep game, minecraft is a glorified digital lego set, there is no debate, you can't possibly compare the two.
