I roll a 7 and all I get is 1 florin a quarter! Oh well, I'll be back, economics!

Well, I really just disbanded them because for some reason I thought autumn came after spring, and I wanted to make sure that agriculture went on unhindered. Also, do we take money in at the beginning of quarters, or at the end? If at the beginning, I have 40f, but otherwise I have 35f.

Also, who's this areyoua person? I love the name, but mine is Prince George. He, Anyway Oriana, I hope you realize how much 5f a quarter is. I would ask that you wait until autumn when I'll be rolling in money, but I understand the anxiety a 40f debt is, so I'll provide you with 15f now, and 25f in autumn if you are willing. Of course, money has a price. We in Lencil have need of horses, and you can provide it, so that is what we will be expecting in return at a discounted price. A pretty high discounted price if you want 40f though... Also, it would greatly help your case if you were to, I don't know, stop stabbing people with your rapier?

15f to Oriana, if accepted, and a guarantee of cheap horses.

Still got 20-25 florins, though, what to do, what to do....

15f go towards even more city improvements, perhaps a fountain, perhaps more livable space, perhaps a library which holds books that the illiterate populous can't read. Anyway, 5-10f go towards the beginnings of a road connecting Lencil and the forests.
Just the beginnings, mind, I know that won't be enough to make asphalt roads from here to mars.

All in all the gross cost of the building would be 5 florins. A good enough price; not like he had cause to complain really, but it was half of his funds...Then again isn't this how father got rich? Risking his life, wealth, family and honour?

"Selima if you would please send for the owners, I would speak to them. And get the servants to bring up some wine from the cellars. Not the poor stuff but not really good stuff either."

"Yes Mahi"

A good talk with the owners would perhaps see the price go down a florin or two. While Mahiveno waited for them to arrive, he began planning out his strategy. Who to loan to and who to support, and who to not give anything. The merchants here would find the notes that the banks used extremely useful in transporting wealth and those in quick need of gold will be coming to the bank...Of course with his spending he'd have to request a sum from father; Mahi could already imagine the scolding, "I established a bank with only 2 florins and...", but he would endure it in word or speech to get this bank up and running, just to get a bit of respect...

The owners took a while bit long to arrive; they had not expected it perhaps. He saw them down the window at their villa door. Mahi left his study and came to the entrance hall.

The two were middle-classed and light of skin. That's where any resemblence ended.

The one on the left was fat, old, and wore an extravagent doublet and coat. His pants and shoes were of lesser quality, but his jewelry and hat made up for it. The hat had feathers. lots of feathers of every colour. Probably to hide his boldness.

The other one looked to be in his 30's, was slim and had more simple clothes. He had a frock with coat and boots and of course some pants. Thing was, most of it was in black or red.

"Ah just the two gentlemen I wanted to see. I am Mahiveno des Karesti. And who might yours be."

The old one smiles openly "I would be Fredrick Gendres and my companion here dosen't speak much. Hasn't spoke much since his mother died."

"Name's Podrick Faye."

"Sorry for your loss. Now we should go up to the study, we can talk of business there and of course there will be wine for our guest" Mahi said.

They went up and spoke and drank.

Action- Talk with the owners of the building. Haggle the price down to 3 or 4. Also ask if they would have any use of a bank.

(Would I be allowed to request funds from father?)

Oriana makes sure to bow low to the Prince...not that low, but still.

"Prince George, any aid you render me will be most appreciated, and Lencil will repeat the benefit many times over. I accept your offer...and all who know, can say my rapier stays firmly sheathed until it's drawn in defense of my honor."

She makes sure to smile, excusing herself from the court. Oriana hopes she caught the Princes favor...

As she leaves the palace, and waits for the carriage to arrive and take her back to her apartment, she wonders if she shouldn't hire someone to manage her finances...

((Dwarmin, are you sure you want to metagame this? How would the son of a certain banker from far-flung lands know a rancher in a landlocked country?))

((Do you people dare doubt the effectiveness of the ESLPS (Enlightened States of Lencil Postal Service)?! Outrageous, but with enough expense, I'm sure that a message could get all the way down south on a traveler on horseback in a season or so. ))

You come from Morwood, and you are at the Morwood/Lencil border.

[4]
Morwood was a place of turmoil, as it emerges from dynastic struggles with several states beyond the area. You led a regiment of professional archers, surplus from the wars, looking for a living other than on fields; it seems that everyone in Morwood can handle a bow, and experienced bowmen are always in great demand...

((Do you people dare doubt the effectiveness of the ESLPS (Enlightened States of Lencil Postal Service)?! Outrageous, but with enough expense, I'm sure that a message could get all the way down south on a traveler on horseback in a season or so. ))
((You certainly have efficient postmen, but they cannot deliver to someone the sender couldn't know.))

(dang-it i have upkeep)

Howard thought to himself "Why bother with Morwood now? I mean it's all peaceful now."
Then, Howard said to his party "We shall go to Lencil and establish a mercenary and adventurers guild!" Alexander pipped in"But, don't we need to make our selves known here?" Howard replied "Oh I forgot that. How about we do a few quests and help out around here?"

Try to find quests and work for our mercenaries and write a letter to the Prince about finding work with Lencil

Argh. Your rolls will be the end of me evilcherry. Why must they all come to Lencil?! I guess it's because of our awesome luck cities Postal Service! Don't get me wrong, I love having people bring their talents to Lencil, but why must they all be constant drains on the budget?!

Is it really still spring? We've had two updates, and still I'm stuck without harvest time and 60 florins. 60 delicious florins.

"What do you mean I can't eat a florin?!"
"Sir, what are you talking about, I just said, 'What do you want to do about Mr. Bard?'"
"I'm not to be questioned Julian! You may have been at my side for longer than I remember-"
"15 years. You weren't even an adult when I started."
"But that doesn't give you the right-"
"Shouldn't we get back on-"
"To interrupt me all the time!"
"I'd say it does, son"
"..." "..." "..." "..." "..."
"Do you know who's turn it is to speak?"
"I reckon it's yours."
"Damn right it is. Send for the scribe, he'll have to take some dictation."
"Well, I guess the ESLPS can't be that overburdened."
"NO! I will have the last word this time!"
"I guess that's just too bad..."

"Julian, why does this man persist in calling me 'Prince'?"
"Well, he was very influential, but I think the real problem here is that he thinks we have a fur industry, which we don't."
"That's minor. My name, however, is a big deal."
"Sir, we're not barbarians, you still can't behead people for calling you the wrong thing."
"Fine, but you're certainly not getting the last word here."
"Aren't I?"

That last gobbo would stand there, missing an arm, punctured in a kidney, liver, and spleen, fading in and out of consciousness at the far end of where the drawbridge would go, and his last sight would be the drawbridge dropping down and smashing him like a bug.

God DAMN I love this game!
