Argh. Your rolls will be the end of me evilcherry. Why must they all come to Lencil?! I guess it's because of our awesome
luck cities Postal Service! Don't get me wrong, I love having people bring their talents to Lencil, but why must they all be constant drains on the budget?!
Is it really still spring? We've had two updates, and still I'm stuck without harvest time and 60 florins. 60 delicious florins.
"What do you mean I can't eat a florin?!"
"Sir, what are you talking about, I just said, 'What do you want to do about Mr. Bard?'"
"I'm not to be questioned Julian! You may have been at my side for longer than I remember-"
"15 years. You weren't even an adult when I started."
"But that doesn't give you the right-"
"Shouldn't we get back on-"
"To interrupt me all the time!"
"I'd say it does, son"
"..." "..." "..." "..." "..."
"Do you know who's turn it is to speak?"
"I reckon it's yours."
"Damn right it is. Send for the scribe, he'll have to take some dictation."
"Well, I guess the ESLPS can't be
that overburdened."
"NO! I will have the last word this time!"
"I guess that's just too bad..."
The Letter to Howard Bard
Dear Bard,
First, let me say how honored I am that you think of me as an aging pop(?) singer. Do you really want to put that in the letter, sir? Prince won't exist for centuries. Stop confusing the scribe, Julian! But let me get straight to the point: We would be glad to have you as a member of the Lencil Armed Forces, but we must discuss the matter of pay. Lencil is a rural, farming nation, and so we only really get a considerable sum of money during the autumn growing season, and it would also be trouble for the accountant to have to add a whole digit to his ledgers to break a florin in half. I also have to ask why your company needs an upkeep 25% higher than a standard Professional Archery company. Therefore, I would ask you to accept a pay of 2.25 a quarter, with 2 florins payed in Winter, Summer, and Spring and a 3 florin payout in autumn. However, I know the troubles faced by small business such as yours face, so I will allow you to personally take 1/4 of all loot obtained in battle under my command (more if your force represents more than 1/4 the total force) and all the loot in battles with you alone or with other mercenary companies. I will also hope that your friends the carpenter and the surgeon are included when hiring your company? I do hope you will agree to these terms, and that you will take a slightly more caring attitude towards the people of Lencil than some others.
From,
Prince George Walden
